"Tyler! Where are you!?"
"Over here..."
"We need to go. We'll be caught."
"No we-"
Tyler stopped speaking. Suddenly she heard a blood curdling scream. "TYLER!" Tistanai ran through the woods to the watering hole where Tyler had been getting the water. When she reached it she saw a body, covered in blood, laying next to a raz'ac with a bloody beak. "You. You foul creature. You killed him!" Tistanai screamed. She drew her sword and killed the rat's in a fit of fury. As soon as it was dead, however, she turned to the body. Kneeling at his side, Tistanai checked Tyler's pulse. Almost gone. "Tyler? Can you hear me?" Tyler opened his eyes. His mouth was full of blood. Punctured lung. She bowed her head. "Tistanai?"
"Yes Tyler?"
"Did you kill it?"
"What?"
"Did you kill the raz'ac?"
"Yes."
Tyler smiled triumphantly. "Good riddance."
Tistanai couldn't help but smile.
"Tistanai?"
"Yes?"
"I'm dying."
"No! You're not. You're gonna be fine, I promise."
"Tistanai. Can you do something for me?"
"Of course."
"Tell Murtagh hello." Tyler groaned.
"Why don't you?"
Tyler looked at Tistanai and weakly smiled. "Because I wont be here."
Tears streamed down Tistanai's face. "Tistanai."
Choking on her own tears, Tistanai didn't respond. "Goodbye." And with that, Tyler stopped breathing. Tistanai was alone.
"Goodbye, little brother."
After Tistanai had buried Tyler, she traveled to Du wëldenvardën. She arrived at the old home of the elf rider, Oromis, and his Dragon, Glaëdr. "Great people were trained here." Tistanai spun around at the unknown voice from the trees. The queen of Du wëldenvardën stepped out. "Both good and evil has grown here." She spoke in a light voice, strong, yet smooth. "Yes, with strength too, Dröttíng."
"Ah, you are respectful. What might your name be?"
"Tistanai shadesdottir, child of Galbitorix." The queen gained a sudden distrust towards her. Normal. But she must be honest. "It might set you at unease, but it is my past." The queen smiled.
"I would like you to attend our ceremony later today. It is to determine a rider for one of the eggs. Good day."
"I will be there, Dröttíng." The queen laughed lightly. "Call me Arya." And with that she turned and left. An egg! Tistanai knew the egg would not hatch for her, but a Dragon egg! To touch one sent a thrill throughout her body.
Later that day she went to the hall where the ceremony was to take place. Many elves where circled together. One elf, whom she recognized as Blödgarm, gestured for her to join them. As she stepped up she saw the egg being passed around. After about twenty minutes she was handed the egg. It was a medium grey color, and was dull-looking, yet beautiful. Suddenly the egg shivered. Cracks appeared along the egg. It was hatching. For me.
I am a rider.
