A/N: Warning: SPOILER for the end of R2.

A wish:
Something everyone has,
Can dream about,
Hope for, yearn for,
Reach and strive for,
Always just beyond one's grasp.
A blessing
Yet a curse -
Keeping one alive,
Throbbing in one's veins,
Lining all one's thoughts,
The very air one breathes.
C.C.
Only ever wanted love -
True love,
Real and honest,
Not blind adoration
Forcibly obtained.
Lelouch
Only ever wanted life -
A real life,
True freedom,
A peaceful world
Especially for her.
In dreaming,
We lose ourselves,
Doing dreadful things,
Unthinkable deeds,
Wrenching what we want
From its possessors.
Unmindful and uncaring,
Rather selfishly,
Condemning those poor souls
To the suffering,
The pain and the torment,
That once was ours.
In craving to be loved,
She made many fall for her -
Young and old,
Free and bound -
Wrecking many homes,
Tearing families apart.
In seeking to protect,
To find freedom from all strife,
He made war
And destroyed;
He used people as his pawns
And sent thousands to their deaths.
In the end
Through these means,
Twisted though they be,
Both did get what they wished for.
Noble aspirations,
But at what cost?
For of course,
As you know,
Every wish
Has its price.
The loftier the dream,
The dearer the sacrifice.
So just when she found Mr. Right,
The one and only man
Who could love her truly
And accept her fully,
An equal, a partner,
She simply had to lose him.
For you see,
This same man,
Warlock to the witch,
Had a dream.
And the price?
His own life.

A/N: The italicized "her" of course refers to Lelouch's dearest sister.
The concept was something I've toyed around in my head for a while after watching the end of R2. This was written in one of my darker moments, hence the tragic logic (hm, the 'e' in 'cashew' can actually mean 'emo').
So what do you think? Tell me in a review.
