Chapter 1

Multiples sceneries passed by the compartment window, as an adolescent boy gazed wearily outside the transparent glass. The sky was covered by a dark blanket, the only illumination was the few stars imprinted on the dark blanket.

The boy thought for a moment, before saying, "Yvette. Where is the moon?"

His companion looked up at him confusingly, before following his gaze to the window. She searched at the dark sky. But found only the twinkling stars. She turned her head to her master, before replying, "I believe it is hiding, milord."

He glanced at her in the corner of his eyes, before smirking lazily. "Yes. The moon is hiding. Do you know why it is hiding?"

She only stared at him some more. He can practically feel her puzzle stare.

"Is it because of the new moon, milord?"

The boy shook his head, and chuckled under his breath. "No. It is because the moon is such a coward, it is embarrassed to show itself in public."

"But why is he embarrassed, milord?"

He continued to stare once more at the moonless sky, and said, "Because it is jealous, my sweets. It is jealous because it knows that it is just a single moon, that doesn't have enough power to light up the sky, without the stars' help." He closed his eyes, and smiled nonchalantly, "You see; no matter how big or intimidating it might look, it doesn't have the anticipation nor assistance that the stars does. The stars have million of helpers trying to brighten the sky with one single light, while the moon egoistically claims the sky without its glow."

She waited for her master to continue, but his response was silent. She gazed back at the sky and tried to find the arrogant moon. But it was well hidden under the mask of the dark blanket.

She looked back at her master, and smirked an evil smirk, "Don't you ever compare me to the moon nor the stars, milord. I am much brighter then either of them. And you shall see soon enough."

Unknowingly to her, the window's reflection caught her unnatural glowing eyes.
