A/N: If you expect a good story about how the police force works and operates with a cool mystery, you've… come to the wrong place. This is probably inaccurate and not how it works in Japan. ¯\_()_/¯

"Hiura Akane, reporting!" she yelled, saluting with vigour.

Her partner beside her sighed tiredly. "Mizukami Satoshi, reportin'." He gave a salute as well.

"Ah, good," their commander, Sawamura Kyouko, said, standing up. "You two are finally here."

"What are we for?" Akane asked. Then, she gasped. "Don't tell me… You found out that it was me that was behind the slime incident? It… it was Mizukami-senpai's fault," she shifted the blame onto her partner.

"Oi! Don't get me involved in your li'l incident!" he barked.

"So, that was you?" she muttered to herself. Sawamura shook it off. "No need to dig up the past. Anyway, I have a mission for you two, our youngest members of the force. That only you can pull off."

Akane sparkled. "What is it?"

"I supposed you heard of the string of kidnappings of the models of Border, correct?"

"Who hasn't? I told Mizukami-senpai all about it!"

"Good. I don't need to bring you up to date. Border Agency asked us to send officers undercover to protect their models."

"What really!?" Akane squealed with excitement. "That's like a dream come true!"

Mizukami smirked. "What are ya, a teenage girl?"

She punched him in the arm.

"Ow." He rubbed his arm. "No need to be so mad about it. So, how exactly are we goin' underco'er?"

"The only job that they could offer where you could get close to these models is a makeup artist," she sighed.

"…"

"…"

"I don't even know ta fundamentals 'bout makeup," Mizukami coughed.

"I only know the basics," Akane added.

"Ya mean the time you came in lookin' like a clown?"

Akane jabbed him in the stomach.

"Oof."

"Stop fighting you two." She pinched the bridge of her nose. "I know. But, those were the only positions they could offer. I've seen what clothes you two wear. Your clothes are not going to blend in with the other fashionable makeup artists."

"Oh, come on! It's not like we'll be modelling," Akane complained.

"Sawamura-san. I don't think we'll blend very well. Why don't ya get someone more fashionable to do it?" Mizukami asked.

"As I told you. You two are young. They employ young makeup artists, so the older folk of our force wouldn't blend well and may tip off the kidnappers that we're doing something."

"Yeah, but…"

"Don't worry, we have professionals here to teach you."

"Eh?"

Suddenly the door burst open. A male and female entered.

"So, these are the two kids we must train," the woman addressed, lowering her sunglasses.

The man sighed. "The people outside wore their uniforms better than these two. They're the ones that look like they don't get the trends."

The duo shared looks. The phrase rang through their head. We're going to die.

Sawamura smiled though it seemed very sinister. "Good luck you two!"

"… The person who you have called is not in service. Please leave a message after the beep," the automated voice said, with the same bored tone.

Mizukami threw his phone into his bag. "Dammi'. Where is she? Ta bus is going to be here in two minutes," he snarled.

"I'm so sorry!" Akane yelled, popping out of nowhere.

Mizukami jumped. "Where were ya? Ya were going to make us late for our first day at Border!" He pinched her cheek.

"But~…" she whined. "I got so scared that Maki-san will yell at me, that I took really long to choose the outfit. My closet has never been this full…" she moaned. "You're so lucky, Mizukami-senpai. All you have to wear are jeans, shirt, scarf, and leather jacket."

"I dunno, yer clothes are pretty simple too, Hiura," Mizukami glanced at the white dress, the pink long wool sweater she wore over the dress, and the pink flats.

"Like she said, make it simple," she stated proudly. "Ah, the bus is here."

They sat in the back and Mizukami took out a few newspaper clippings.

"What are you doing, Mizukami?"

"Just checkin' o'er the models from Border tha' went missin'," he answered as he shuffled through the clippings.

"If I remember correctly," Akane murmured. "There was Oki Kouji, Osano Rui, Yoneya Yousuke, Usami Shiori, Inukai Sumiharu, Kunichika Yuu, Nire Hikari, and the most famous two, Arashiyama Jun and Karasuma Kyousuke. And my personal favourite," she sniffed. "Nasu Rei."

"A total of ten people," Mizukami summed up. He sighed. "Probably only one group of kidnappers are nabbin' these models. They aren't even askin' for anythin'. They're just stayin' quiet."

"Nasu~!" she cried out.

Mizukami ignored her. "When are we getting' ta official police reports?" he asked.

"Sawamura-san said in about two days in our new apartment's mailbox," she answered as she grabbed some of the clippings out of his hand. "We have to report the people in charge first, right?"

Mizukami nodded.

She grinned. "I wonder who we're going to put makeup on. I personally hope that it's Tsukimi Ren. She's so pretty~! What about you?"

"Couldn't care less," he revealed.

Akane pouted, before staring at the clippings she grabbed out of Mizukami's grasp. She picked out the one about Nasu. … Where are they?

"So, these are the police members they sent over," an over-weight man observed. Akane observed his nametag had Kinuta on it.

"Hiura Akane!" she yelled, saluting.

"Mizukami Satoshi," he said and saluted.

"If these are the recruits that Sawamura-san sent over, then we can trust that the model we assign them will be safe," Shinoda assured them.

"What will be our duties?" Mizukami asked. "Other than being a makeup artist," he added after.

"Well, first off. You'll be the personal makeup artist for our male model, Ouji Kazuaki. So, his safety will be your number one duty and…" Kinuta prattled on.

"…"

Mizukami-senpai? Akane glanced at him only to see him in deep thought, his hand covering his mouth.

"… and you'll be responsible for two other models. Narasaka Tooru and Kako Nozomi."

"What about your other models?" Akane interrupted.

"Oh? Ah, it's quite alright. You don't have to worry about the others. We have highly-trained security guards protecting them," Shinoda assured them.

"But-," Akane started to ask.

Mizukami interrupted her. "Alrigh', then. We'll go an' find him," he stated, throwing his arm around Akane's shoulder.

"M-Mizukami-senpai?"

He ignored her questioning stare as he dragged her out of the room. He shut the door quickly.

He let out a sigh as he walked toward the dressing room. Akane chased after him and grabbed his arm.

"What re you doing? I didn't get to ask my last question, Mizukami-senpai!" she complained.

Stopping in his tracks, he turned to look at her. "I stopped you from asking that last question fer a reason."

"?"

He scratched his head. "This mission is goin' to be annoying'," he muttered. "Anyway. I'll answer your question. They do have security guards around these three. But, they need us. They're suspicious of these three."

"Eh? B-but, they're models as well. Shouldn't they be protected as well?"

"They have some connections to ta kidnappings are what they implied to us."

"! So, that why you were in deep thought earlier…"

"… Sure. I was thinkin' abou' that. Anyway, ya comin'?"

"Alright! Let's go meet Ouji!"

"Yer supposed to be fifteen. Call 'im Ouji-senpai," he scolded.

They stood in front of a door. The name Ouji Kazuaki was carefully printed on the name tag.

Akane raised up her hand and knocked on the door. "Excuse us! We're your new makeup artists!"

There was silence, then a voice came through the door. "You may come in."

Akane opened the door. In the corner of the room in front of a mirror was a young brown-haired teen. He stood up.

"Ah, so you're the two newcomers that they assigned me," Ouji greeted. He held out his hand toward Akane. "Nice to meet you," he said, smiling brightly.

Akane took his hand, giving a cheerful smile back. "You too, Ouji…senpai!" she quickly added. "I'm Hiura Akane!"

He let go of her hand and turned to Mizukami. "What about your name?" he asked, holding out his hand.

"… Mizukami Satoshi," he shook Ouji's hand, subtlety reluctant, Akane observed.

Ouji, whether he didn't notice Mizukami's pause or choose to ignore it, smiled at them. "If you don't mind, may I see your makeup skills, you two?"

"Haha, yes," Akane responded.

"Did ya jus'?" Akane hushed Mizukami.

"He doesn't need to know. Anyways!" She addressed Ouji. "Close your eyes. We're going to make you look like your number one!"

"…" Ouji smiled but said nothing as he closed his eyes.

Akane took out the foundation bottle. She put on his face and mixed it in. "Okay… Going so well so far…" She put on blush.

Now the hard part. She let Mizukami curl his eyelashes. Luckily, he didn't cut it off. They both let out sighs of relief. He then put on mascara.

She grabbed the eyeliner and put it against the corner of his eye. She had something in her nose and she quickly turned her head away and sneezed.

"Akane!"

She turned back to see Ouji's face. "Oh no."
