Natasha strode into the dim room, wearing a jet black dress which dragged along the floor behind her. As she approached the small round table, she heard a familiar voice start speaking to her from the doorway.

"Natasha." He whispered gently with a discrete grin on his face.

Her heart raced as the footsteps gradually became louder. She felt his delicate hands gently grip her shoulders. For someone with such a big reputation for danger, he had an incredibly soft touch. She twisted her head to see his beautiful face stare her in the eyes. His stern face cracked into the most amazing smile. Slowly, leant his head forward and pressed his soft lips against hers. She stood still to cherish the moment.

"Sit." He said with a gentle yet commanding voice as he pulled out a chair for her. As Natasha sat down on the chair, he strolled slowly around to the other side of table, sitting down in the chair facing opposite to her. She was completely spellbound to his attractiveness. She was speechless. All that she could do was sit there in silence admiring his every move. The way he did everything simply astonished her. She dreamed about being with him. Every moment since she met him he was always there; always in the back of her mind. Only recently had he made his way to the front. He was so special. She wished that he had always been with her. She wished that he had been there to save her from her old life. But she didn't want that memory to ruin this night.

She patiently waited for him to start speaking. As the candle flickered between them, she gazed into his eyes before noticing that he opened his mouth to speak and then she flickered back into focus...well as much focus as she could be in around him.

"I have been wanting to talk." He spoke confidently. Natasha knew that this was the point where she would usually make a funny remark to lighten things up but she was to tied in his words to speak at all so she just nodded with a small grin on her face so that he would keep talking.

"Since the whole thing with the avengers happened the other month, I have realised just how much I actually love you...and I don't want it to seem like I'm rushing into things... but this world is dangerous and being who we are, our lives might not last as long as we want them to be, so I have really been wanting to ask you something, I want to make this official, to show you that I really love you..."

He seemed so nervous; for someone who could destroy an army with a simple punch, it was unusual for him to be nervous.

Slowly he pulled a small ring out of his pocket. It was the most beautiful ring that she had ever seen; gold all around except for one beautiful diamond shining like millions of tiny stars. Suddenly, he grabbed one of her hands and knelt down on one knee staring deeply into her eyes. Natasha felt her heart melt as he began to speak.

"Natasha, will you do the honours of becoming my wife." Natasha smiled but couldn't speak. She was so happy. But what she did next came as a complete shock to her. She knew that she wanted to be with him but something inside of her stopped her. She couldn't explain it.

"Bruce, I cant. I'm so so sorry but I can't." Tears flooded down her face. She had no idea what she was doing, she thought that she loved him.

"The thing is, I'm in love with someone else. I'm in love with Clint. Its just that he's always been here for me, since the start. And I'll never be able to let that go."

Natasha ran out the room leaving Bruce confused with the whole situation. Luckily, he stopped the other guy from coming out before she left the building, but he was still upset. His world seemed like nothing to him anymore. He knew that he would love her forever but she would not back and knowing that made him so angry...
