"Who let you in?" Tony asked when he felt someone's presence behind him, not stopping his work.
"I did, sir." J.A.R.V.I.S replied.
Tony groaned and wondered who would be there. It couldn't be Pepper, if it was her she would be already giving him a speech about his responsibilities. Rhodes was out of town, she it couldn't be him. Tony finally turned around and saw Steve Rogers.
"Cap." He said, flatly, wiping his hands on a brownish colored rag. He was sure that used to be white. "What brings you here?"
"People are worried about you, Tony." Steve simply replied. It has been three days since Tony has been exposed to any form of sunlight. "You need to get out of this place."
"Pepper called you, didn't she?" Steve nodded. "I went upstairs like, two hours ago to get coffee. I also took a shower. It's an improvement, ask Pepper."
Steve rolled his eyes. "What are you even doing this time? A talking lamp?"
"I was fixing a glitch on the microwave but now I'm not sure anymore." Tony then turned back around to examine what he was doing before Steve's interruption.
Steve approached Tony and hugged him from behind, eyebrows raised at the mess that was Stark's work table. His hands settled on Tony's hips as Steve exhaled. "I miss you."
"See, if that was your opening line we would already be upstairs, in my room." Tony turned around on Steve's arms, his hands moving around Cap's body and resting on the small of his back. He was slightly stunned that Rogers would care about him like that, Tony never thought he deserved such a treatment, hence why he would never guess it was Steve invading his work place if he didn't turn around to look at him. "I couldn't care less about people."
Tony would be tortured over and over again before he admitted just how much he cared about Steve. He could be dying, and his last words still wouldn't be a declaration of his love for the man, but it was okay because the smile on Rogers' lips and the way he kissed Tony showed that he knew. And if Steve knew, then that's all that really mattered, wasn't it?
"Let's get out of here, Steve."
