Shadows danced around the ground of Viridian Forest, and almost all of its inhabitants were sleeping, tired from battling the multiple trainers which had challenged them that day. Even the Trainers were beat from their first day of adventure, and they were cuddled up inside of a sleeping bag. There was, in fact, only one creature that wasn't asleep.

An Eevee. She belonged to Amantha. And her name was Ribbon.

She had been a present to Amatha when the trainer was 7, and was very eager to please her master. All Amantha wanted from Ribbon was that she evolved into a Sylveon. And, although Ribbon wasn't to keen to the idea at first, Amantha had rubbed off on her. She avoided evolution stones and tried not to gain levels rapidly. She didn't even spend much time in outside, fearing she might evolve into Espeon.

But, this night, she forgot about Umbreon. The thing she wanted to be the least.

Ribbon yawned, making an adorable little sound, and inched a bit closer to Amantha. It kept them both warmer. But the Eevee was too thirsty to sleep. She tried shaking her trainer awake, but it didn't work, and she decided to hop on outside to take a few sips from the crystal-clear pool of water that they'd camped just afew feet away from. She shivered in the cold forest air, but still wanted to drink.

The chilled water felt good on her short, pink tounge. A few droplets splashed on her pelt, but she didn't look down to check that it wasn't too much. If she had, she would've realized what was going on.

Meanwhile, some noises had woken Amantha up. She sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her sapphire blue eyes. Then, she realized something was wrong. Ribbon was gone. Fearing the worst, Amantha checked outside and saw an Umbreon. She knew that Ribbon was always careful not to evolve, and that the Poke'mon she was staring at couldn't be hers. So, not knowing much about Umbreons, Amantha made up a hypothesis.

That Umbreon had eaten her little Ribbon. She gasped, her eyes begining to water. Ribbon turned around, alerted by the sudden noise, but calmed once she realized it was just Amantha.

"Umbree!" Ribbon smiled. Then the Pokemon's own eyes widened. She'd never made that sound before. Sylveons didn't make that sound, either. What was she? She changed her angle of the Pond so sh could see her own reflection. And she literally didn't know the blood-red eyes staring back at her.

Amantha suddenly had a mood change, from heart-broken to furious. "MONSTER!" she yelled, "WHAT'VE YOU DONE TOME RIBBON?!"

Ribbon tried to explain. "Umbree! Breon! Bree!" she cried out, but (of course), Amantha didn't know what that meant. And she clicked open a Poke'ball, and her strongest Pokemon, a high-level Froakie named Rox, was suddenly running towards Ribbon with a furious glare.

Their trainer didn't understand that Rox's high-pitched call meant, "MURDERER!"

But Ribbon did. And she was standing still, frozen with fear, as a Pokemon much higher level then her charged. He wasn't using a move. He could kill her instead of K.O.-ing her. Ribbon knew this very well. Tears formed around her eyes, slowly dripping into the pond at her paws. Her ugly, midnight-black paws.

Rox striked...

And he missed. Rox wasn't as skilled killing as battling. The Froakie skidded to a quick halt, narrowly avoiding a tree. But when he turned, the Umbreon had gone. But Amantha didn't seem intrested in that at all. She was weeping hard, and her eyes were dim. Rox tentativly slid towards her and snuggled on her lap. He received a warm hug.
