[Set in series 3, after Jack has moved in with Abby]

Midnight. Ugh, though Jack, he was laid across his bed, starving. If his stomach grumbled any louder it would Abby up. With a groan Jack rolled off his bed onto the floor, and slowly picked his away through the flat to the kitchen. The house was dark, pitch black even, but as the light escaped from the fridge, filling the room, Jack caught sight of something moving in the corner of his eye, he shut the fridge slowly.

"Abby? That you?" He whispered into the once again dark room. Silence. He shrugged his shoulders and carried on looking for food, not searching in Abby's cupboards. Aha! Jack pulled out a large tin, which was surprisingly heavy, and rested it on the dining table. "Property of Connor Temple – Don't touch" Jack read the label groggily and once again shrugged his shoulders as he removed the lid; jackpot!

Smash! Okay he definitely heard something that time, maybe something falling over, he span around, peering into the darkness, he couldn't see a thing. With one arm outstretched, the other clutching Connor's secret stash, he felt his way to the wall and found the light switch.

*flick* Nothing happened. Jack flicked the light switch back and forth a couple of times before he realized it was just a plug socket. He sighed in frustration, now feeling his way along the wall again, starting to feel a chill, the hairs standing up on the back of his neck, why hadn't he put a top on? He was freezing!

Finally he found the switch and pushed it, the lights slowly flickered on, and as soon as they were on fully, something flew right into his face. "What the-" Jack screamed – like a girl – and stumbled backwards, his hands flailing widely in front of his face, now letting go of the tin which now crashed to the ground. He could here chirping noises and the flapping of wings all around his as he tried to find a decent foot hold, of which there was none.

"Rex?" Jack heard Abby's voice call out from her bedroom.

"Argh!" Before he could grab the dining table, Jack slipped over his own mess and tumbled to the floor, not wanting to move. "Abby! Help, something's attacking me!" Jack called out, sounding desperate.

"Stop being such a baby, Jack," Jack turned his head to see Abby crouched behind his head "What are you doing on the floor?" She looked down on him with a grin plastered on her face.

"There's something here! It attacked me! Some flying... green thing! I'm lucky to have escaped with my life I swear." Jack replied, struggling to his feet, Abby rose and stood next to him, revealing the 'flying green thing' in her arms, Jack jumped back at the sight of it, but Abby grabbed his arm before he could fall over again.

"Jack," she said slowly, as if speaking to a child, which in all fairness he was acting like one, "it's just Rex, he's one of my lizards, calm down."

Jack's shoulders dropped in embarrassment, "one of your lizards?" he sighed, "I didn't know lizards could fly?"

"It's a flying dragon – from East Asia, I adopted it a couple of years back- what's all this on the floor?" Abby knelt down and picked up the tin, "Connor's secret stash, eh? Hand's off!" Abby playfully slapped Jack on the arm then pointed to the mess. "Tidy it up! I want my kitchen to be as good as new by morning!" She called as she hopped back to her bedroom, the lizard following her. Jack sighed and ran his hand through his hair as he sat down on the floor, slowly collecting together the mix of sweets, biscuits, and chocolate bars, occasionally slipping one or two into his pockets.
