Everybody thought that the boy who lived was lonely. Everyone felt bad for him, mistreated by his uncle and aunt, bullied by his cousin. His family had died to protect him and he had to die to save the world. But the truth is he was never alone. He always had someone. When he thought his aunt and uncle were going to kill him for all the letters, he had Hagrid. When people thought he had opened the Chambers, he had Ron. When he learned that Peter Pettigrew had betrayed his parents, he had Lupin and Black. When he had to compete in the Triwizard tournament, he had Cedric. When Umbridge was after him, he had all of Gryffindor. When Dumbledore died, he had Hermione and the Weasley's. When Dobby died, he had Luna. When the battle was fought, he had all of Hogwarts. So he was never truly alone even if he thought he was.

The person who was truly alone was Draco Malfoy. He was raised to believe that pure-bloods were superior to other wizards and witches, and that muggle-born children should not be allowed in Hogwarts. He had his father to look up to, the man who was a death eater but quickly coward away when he heard Voldemort had lost to a baby. His father was a liar, a coward, a death eater, and a terrible father. And Draco's mother did not do much to protect her son. When Draco went to Hogwarts he had two "friends" and a girl that followed him around. His two "friends" Crabbe and Goyal were dumber than a brick wall, and Pansy was an annoying girl who only wanted to be his girlfriend. Draco did the best he could to impress his father but it rarely worked. At the end of his fifth year his father was captured and taken to Azkaban for helping Voldemort. Because his father had failed to get the prophecy, Voldemort punished the Malfoy's by giving Draco the task of killing Dumbledore. The summer before his sixth year he became a death eater and got the dark mark. During his sixth year he was fixing the vanishing cabinet and trying to kill Dumbledore. He tried many times but only managed to curse Katie Bell and nearly kill Ron. Draco knew he couldn't do it. He broke down in the bathroom with sobs. He didn't want to do it but he was afraid that Voldemort would kill him if he didn't. Harry came in the bathroom and fought Draco. In the end Harry won by casting a curse that cut up his body and blood stained his white shirt. Draco was truly alone, he had no one. He did not have someone to comfort him when is father was thrown in Azkaban. He did not have anyone to tell him it was ok, that he didn't have to kill Dumbledore. He didn't have anyone to turn him to a brighter path so that sent him down a truly dark one, which would take many years to come back from.

I know that Draco had no heart of gold, but can you blame him?
