Chapter 01 - Stillborn, Still Lives, Still Dead

It's strange how often the circumstance of one's life seems to actively spite you and disallow all you ever wanted out of life to ever happen; all Kushina and Minato ever wanted was a family. Now it seemed they would likely never have one.

The problem was that they were both of strong blood. Minato, a clansman of the Namikaze, known for its blood ties to the Senju, Uchiha, and Aburame clans and carrier of passive bloodline of the Namikaze, allowing for massive reserves of chakra and strong bodies.

Kushina, a clansmen of the feared Uzumaki clan, whose blood allowed for use in powerful seal arrays, some even had the power to spawn and control chains with the power of their minds and chakra. On top of that their blood has passive traits for healing, massive reserves and strong bodies.

Most would think that these traits would boost one another. In some cases that would be true, but it was rare. In most cases, the genes combining would cause issues with conception, as well as health and chakra use of the child. No matter how much Kushina and Minato enjoyed 'the act', the disappointment of never yielding results was miserable and began to strain their relationship until eventually…

"PUSH." Commanded trusted nurse practitioner Komako Monichi.

"AAAAAARGH, I'M TRYING!" Grunted one Kushina Uzumaki. "THE LITTLE FUCKER WON'T GO!"

"I can't blame him. Prime real-estate." Said one cheeky kage candidate Minato form across the room.

Kushina glared over at her husband. "I can't fucking believe I agreed to THIS!" "And I'm his mother you sick bastard!"

Cheeky Minato looked at the floor trying his best to look abashed as the delivery room staff also sent him looks of distaste as well.

"There's the head, keep pushing." Komako stated calmly. "That's it one more."

Soon the baby's head was exposed and it was easy to see he wasn't breathing. There were predicted complications, but this wasn't one of them.

"Kushina keep going, we need to get him out NOW." The urgency of her tone not lost on any of them.

At this Minato stepped forward, only to find the hand of a Black ops agent on his shoulder, who was looking at him and shaking his head in the negative. He was only to step in if Kushina's seal were to weaken.

Soon the stillborn was delivered and rushed to the ICU in an attempt to possibly save him, leaving a crying Kushina in the delivery room with her dear husband.

"I'm sorry Kushina." He said while stroking her hair from beside her in the bed. "I'm so sorry."

She sniffed. "I knew it was too good to be true." Smiling tearily she said "At least I still have you. That's enough for a family."

After a little under an hour, their nurse returned with a Bundle wrapped in her arms giving them a second of hope.

"I'm sorry."

No two words could have crushed anyone more than those two in that moment. The finality in her voice coupled with her tentative approach could only mean one thing. Their baby was dead.

"I thought you may want to see him."

The nurse quickly walked over to their bed and handed off the baby.

"He's so beautiful." Kushina said softly crying.

"That he is."

The two quietly admired their child as the nurse watched them like a spectre.

"I should take him now."

With that, the parents solemnly gave up their child, giving their final goodbyes.

As they handed him over though, something strange happened. The baby's eyes opened. Only the nurse saw it at first and froze on her way out of the room, placing her hand against several points on his body to check for a heartbeat.

"What's wrong?" Minato asked

"His eyes opened. He's looking at me."

Minato practically teleported over to see, Kushina not far behind.

She turned to show them and surely enough he was, even smiling, breathing.

They noticed the nurse's frown.

"He has no pulse."
