The cabbie stopped and Sherlock Holmes and the ever-present Dr. Watson jumped out from the cab. As usual, Sherlock hurriedly went inside the house, his long Belstaff coat fluttering after him. Joh was left to pay as usual. John quickly paid the driver and hurried into the house in the hope to catch up with sherlock. The consulting detective had already gone inside the house and was currently discussing about the bloody corpse. John arrived just in, when Lestrade was showing the forensic report of Ms. Samantha Willard.

'So, the Victim had died of the gun wound. Blood loss, maybe.' commented Lestrade.

Sherlock glanced between the report and the body and the room. The room showed signs of a struggle. The victim might have put up a fight of some sort. The victim's sister had gone through all her belongings and claimed that there was nothing gone. If the aim was no stealing then it obviously is murder. Ms. Willard did not seem to be the type that has enemies. The case was realy puzzling. Well then maybe it can be the daughter, since she was….

'Sir, the women is alive!' cried a forensic doctor, interrupting his thought process. The young sergeant had a look of pure shock. Clearly the man had not experienced corpse coming to life, judging by his expression.

'Donovan, quickly arrange for our field doctor!' Lestrade yelled. All the officers started to bustle around, working as Lestrade barked out orders.

'Sir, there is not field doctor available now! Our doctor is back at Scotland yard and judging by the time and traffic, I don't think that he could reach here in time to save the women' Donovan yelled back.

'I think I can be of some help'

Nobody had actually noticed John hovering behind the scene watching everything. His face had a hard expression, like he was facing the battlefield again. Maybe that is what he was seeing. Everybody remembered that the man had been a soldier but nobody had known what the doctor really did. Everybody thought that he was just a regular army doctor who just got shot in the army. Nobody really wondered what the ex- army doctor had really been in the army.

John moved forward and yelled for a medical field kit. He got up and rolled the sleeve of his button up till his elbows. He looked just like a soldier prepared to save lives and he had a very confident look on his face. His commands were so strong that nobody could not help but listen, even if he was not part of their team.

'Lieutenant, please move forward and hold the man!' John yelled to man who was standing quite idle.

So, the bustle of activity kept on going. They all watched John work and everyone stood in awe. John had the face of full concentration and he worked perfectly. Even thought the man had been out of experience for years, he did the surgery like he did it every day. After the surgery had finished, John got up and announced that the man was ok.

John came out blood smudged here and there on her clothes. The women had been bleeding quickly and the wound was quite superficial. John came back with his eyes shining with adrenaline and looked as if he de aged 10 years.

'The women is alive Greg, and resting now, when she wakes up you can question her about her attacker.

And with that he started to move from the crime scene, and for the first time in his life, Sherlock following him with a proud smile.

And with that, everybody understood that not only John is a kind man and brave soldier, but also skilled and smart doctor.
