It was a another day at Pipkins. Liz Johnny's cousin was reading a book about hamsters she borrowed from the library. Topov and Hartley Hare were board.
Hartley sighed "I wish we had a pet like a dog or a cat so we could play with it!
Topov nodded, Yes and the we can take it for walks and cuddle with him
A few minutes later, Johnny appeared "Im home" he called
Hi Johnny the puppets called, Johnny walked over to the table carrying something covered in a green towel Guess what I bought he exclaimed
A hamster Liz answered?
No Johnny answered
Its it a spotted cow Hartley asked?
No Johnny laughed
Topov studied the green towel is it a bag of sausages?
No I bought a goldfish Johnny pulled the green towel off to show a goldfish swimming in a bowl. The puppets squealed with excitement
A pet Topov excaimed
Hartley smiled at the goldfish "He's smiling at me"
They all named the Goldfish Dicky and loved him. They sang songs and Topov tried to walk Dicky but couldn't
You don't take goldfish for walks Johnny reminded Topov
Hartley tried to teach Dicky tricks but instead Tortoise fell into the fish bowl
A few days later however tragedy happened Dicky died in the night. Topov discovered the body in the morning. Topov cried and cried. They buried him in the country side and left to return home
When they got back to Pipkins Topov sat in the quiet corner. Johnny approached
Hi Topov are you feeling alright?
Why did Dicky die Topov asked
Well i don't know but i think he got ill
But why asked Topov not some other goldfish and why Dicky
Everything has to die
What about Tortoise will he die
Not for a very long time
Are you going to die Topov asked
Yes but not till I'm a very old man of course
Why do people have to die Topov asked, Because it's just the way it is Topov everything must die
look Johnny smiled I'm going to get a cup of tea,
Johnny entered the kitchen, Liz gave a look of sadness. How's Topov?
He's still sad about the goldfish
Poor kid Liz sighed, I remember when my cat died, I cried for weeks.

Hartley you can't replace pets, Even if you could its wrong.
I have an idea, instead of another goldfish get a hamster. i've been researching and their easy to care for. You get them food water a cage some chew toys, treats and hay and they love you unlike some fish
Topov came out Are we going to get another goldfish? He asked
Nope Liz shook her head, We're going to get a hamster
Everyone named the hamster Pipkin. They cared for him and fed him and cleaned his cage and they lived happily ever after!
