Since fanfiction's new policy is to not allow songfics, I'm just reposting this without Misty's works in it. Keep in mind the song "Meetings" as you read this, and I hope you enjoy it! It's an early work of mine, but I still like it.
For those of you unfamiliar with Meetings, this is the story of Sunsinger and Shadowdancer. So far, Misty has only ever written songs about it. Sunsinger and Shadowdancer were a lifebonded couple with a strange curse upon them-Sunsinger was enchanted to fall asleep at dusk and sleep like the dead until dawn, but Shadowdancer was cursed so if sunlight touched her, she died.
The only time they could meet was at twilight, and this is my poetic attempt (a few years ago) to portray one of their meetings.
Her hair as dark as midnight, and her skin so white and pure,
His head all wreathed in sunbeams, and his voice no longer sure
The Dancer and the Singer meet again by Dancer's lake
Their eyes are filled with longing, and they soon begin to shake.
The Singer voiced a question in a voice all low and strong,
And Dancer plucked a single hair, all dark and black and long
She laid it in the shadow, barely apart from his bright light,
And Singer stooped and laid a hand on hair as dark as night.
He picked it up in his strong hand and moved it in the light
The hair all shining darkly like the velvet black of night
He pulled a strand from his own head, and then a cord he spun-
But then the hair all withered like a seedling in the sun.
The Dancer voiced a cry of deep, abyssal dark despair,
And Singer's tear fell silently upon her withered hair
Their voices joined together in a bitter, weeping song
For their curses, and their love, which would last forever long.
The Dancer stretched her hand out to the edge of shadow's light
The Singer knelt in dying sun, all ready for the night
Soon would come the moment when the Dancer would be free
And the Singer would then go to sleep-but then he heard the Dancer's plea.
He stretched his hand in answer; their fingers nearly met
The Dancer and the Singer had become the closer yet
But then the sun slid from the sky and Singer fell to sleep
The Dancer wept and stepped away, into the shadows deep.
And for the sake of posterity, I'll leave my old review-notes here.
