Hammerschlag presents: A Very Merry Christmas Special 2017 Episode 11: Nativity

The first half of this is basically a FE-themed retelling of the tale of the Three Wise Men. For a more humorous one, take a look at my Valentia fic, "Three Not-so-wise Men".

It starts immediately after the first war between the Divine and Earth Dragons, when Medeus and Gharnef were still mostly good guys.

The maddened Earth Dragons had finally been defeated. The Divine Dragon God Naga's strength was weaning, so he used the last of his energy to take a female form and give birth to a new Dragon Goddess to serve as her voice in the world of mortals. She, with the only Earth Dragon not to succumb to the darkness, Medeus, left to find a suitable place for her to give birth. They eventually found an old, isolated barn being kept by modest shepherds. In there, she went into labor, giving birth to a beautiful young manakete. She named that newborn Tiki, and before she transcended, those tending to her accepted the gifts of the people around them. Three people were, however, notably missing: Gotoh and his students, Miloah and Gharnef, three men known for their great wisdom.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Akaneia, Gotoh and his students were meditating on Naga's imminent passing. They felt the shift in the magic of the air indicating a miracle had occurred, and decided to try and find the new light. As they looked for a way to map the stars, a great light appeared in the sky. Gotoh determined the exact location that the light was aimed toward and led his students across the land to find out what was there. After a long, arduous journey, they discovered Naga, Medeus and the newborn Tiki. Recognizing the greatness in the child, they presented her with the finest gifts they could muster, gold, frankincense and myrrh. Naga accepted the gifts on behalf of her child, and entrusted them with Gotoh as she transcended to the heavens.

Years pass by. Tiki had grown too powerful to be kept awake, so Gotoh put her in a deep slumber. Meanwhile Medeus had started a revolution against humanity for their oppression of Manaketes, and Gharnef succumbed to the power of darkness and went into hiding. Seeing the need for someone like Naga to rise again, the guardian Bantu awakened Tiki to help fight the evils that rose, and she proved instrumental in their downfall. Gotoh, then later Bantu, passed on of old age, and Tiki retreated to Valentia, where she laid dormant, waiting for her time to come. It did a thousand years after Medeus' ultimate defeat when the Fell Dragon Grima burned his way across Akaneia and Valentia alike. Tiki aided the descendants of Marth in overcoming the dark one's might, reshaping the entire world in the process. In the new world, Valentia became Valm and Akaneia Ylisse. It was at this point she was named the Voice of Naga, and was hailed as a spiritual leader and a God. She remained at the Shrine of Mila in Valm for another thousand years, waiting for Grima to rise again. When he did, Tiki emerged to help Marth's descendants once more to defeat the Fell Dragon one final time before she joined her mother in the heavens. Under her guidance, Chrom, the Lord of Ylisse and direct descendant of Marth, and Robin, one of Grima's own bloodline, felled the great dragon for good. Robin began to fade, having killed the one whose existence kept him alive, so Tiki sacrificed her remaining life energy to allow him to live, transcending to the heavens in his place. Her final act, along with all of the countless deeds she committed throughout her life, were remembered by historians for all time.

This was not as good as I would have liked it to be, but I think it fills the gap I intended it to fill.

Writing tunes: Still a requiem, but this time I wrote to Dvorak's.
