Hammerschlag presents: A Very Merry Christmas Special 2017 Episode 10: Flying on Asheramas.

"I hate this," Lehran groaned.

"This is so stupid," Reyson sighed.

"Why are we doing this?" Rafiel shook his head.

"Soren promised us something very special if we did, so we're doing it," Leanne responded.

"No, Soren promised YOU something NONE OF US approve of! We get nothing… not that there's anything he COULD give us!" Reyson growled.

"You already agreed to do this–"

"YOU GOT US DRUNK!"

"–so let's just get it over with, then we can relax. It shouldn't take too long," Leanne finished with the strictest tone she could muster. The other Herons, finding further arguments to be even less preferable than wearing the puffy red suits Leanne made for them, reluctantly decided to acquiesce. The four were, on Leanne's plea, going from home to home in the middle of the night delivering gifts, as Herons of old supposedly did in fairy tales. Lehran, being one of the original herons, knew that to be absolute nonsense, but that didn't stop Soren from making the request. Reyson suspected it had something to do with Mia, who had been working on loosening up the typically detached mage. One thing he definitely hoped was that it had nothing directly to do with Leanne, though considering her choice of outfit the heron prince highly doubted that assumption.

When they arrived at the first house, Leanne insisted on dropping in through the fireplace, as they did in storybooks. Somehow, despite the immensity of their wings, the herons managed to fit down the chute and deliver the gifts Leanne had picked. The next two houses went as expected, but the fourth caused problems.

"Guys, I don't think they snuffed out their fireplace," Rafiel noted, but Reyson was too irritated at this point to care and went down anyway, thinking his magic would keep him safe. It did for the initial drop, but when the spell wore off one of his wings caught fire and as he rolled around the home trying to extinguish it, he accidentally set the whole area ablaze.

"SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! WHY DOES THIS SHIT ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME?!" Reyson screamed and ran out of the house, rolling in the snow to finally quench the flames. Leanne flew down to heal him, then prepared to go into the house to save whoever might have been in there, but Lehran heard guards coming and dragged his companions away before they could be seen. At that point, they decided to skip the rest of that village and move on to the Castle Town. The activities went on mostly without incident, that is until they came to one of the mansions near the Royal Library. When Leanne got down the chute, she noticed large bird seed-shaped cookies placed strategically, leading down a hall.

"Is this–"

"Yep!" Leanne smiled and followed the trail, "you guys go on without me, I have a special gift to give.

"If she's done, does that mean the rest of us can call it a night?" Rafael raised a brow.

"So it would seem," Lehran shrugged.

"I don't know who I'm going to kill first, Soren or Mia," Reyson growled as he heard his sister giggling down the hall.

"I can try to arrange them to be in the same place at the same time, if you like. I do have a knack for manipulation," Lehran suggested.

"I'll think about it. Right now, I just want to go home and sleep."

"Seconded."

"That makes three of us."

That was short, stupid and hopelessly OOC, but I enjoyed writing it. I hope you guys derived some form of pleasure reading it.
