Victorious Season 5:

PROLOGUE

It was last day of August. Which also meant it was last day of summer vacation. But that didn't bother Tori Vega. In fact, she couldn't wait for the new school semester. She loved going to Hollywood Arts. She'd started going there 2 years ago after performing in her older sister Trina's stead following an allergic reaction to an herb gargle that had caused the latter's tongue to "throb erratically".

Tori had never thought much of her own ability in the Performing Arts department, but since she began attending Hollywood Arts, she soon realized that she had a flair when it came to both acting and singing.

Trina, who had yet to realize it, was a different story. Though her attitude implied arrogance brought on by A-List talent, she lacked it in almost every sense of the word. She miraculously graduated from Hollywood Arts this past semester; a feat that is debated almost as much as to how she got into the school in the first place.

The two sisters had decided to spend their last day of summer at Venice Beach. They remembered during one of their visits that they and their friends had been trapped in an RV for the better part of an especially hot day.

Today's weather, thankfully, wasn't so bad. On a blanket placed on the sand, Tori was lying face up, wearing a pink bikini, and thick sunglasses.

Next to her, Trina sat in a chair, sporting her own pair of shades, while also wearing a long straw hat, a blue tank top and beach shorts.

"Why do you keep checking your phone?" Tori asked. She noticed that Trina had been pulling it out of her pocket every couple of minutes.

"I'm expecting an important call from Jim McKnight," Trina replied.

"Why would Jim McKnight call you? He's like the most famous director in Hollywood," Tori said.

"I know, but you know how they're having open casting for his new movie?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I sent in my audition tape! Wanna see it?"

"Um,...sure."

Tori didn't know what to think of this news. She usually didn't have the heart to tell Trina when her acting was...less than ideal. Nevertheless, she took a look at her sister's audition when she pulled up the video on her phone.

"Hi. I am the beautiful and immensely talented Trina Vega. And I'll be trying out for a role in Jim McKnight's newest film, Finite Darkness of a Flawed Reality". For my audition, I selected a scene from Supernatural Happenings."

The video went on for a few minutes, covering Trina go through a character's monologue, in a toneless voice that rivaled Tommy Wiseau's acting. No, scratch that. It wasn't that bad.

"Man, I'm awesome. There's no way I'm not gonna get that role," Trina boasted before she gasped at an apparent epiphany. "What if they cast me as the lead?!"

"Yeah, wouldn't that be a shocker?" Tori said, almost rhetorically.

After the video ended, Trina returned the phone to her pocket.

"I sent that in two weeks ago, and once they're done suffering through auditions from all of those other talentless hacks, they'll see mine and I'll become a star overnight!" she proudly exclaimed.

"Trina, how many movies have you auditioned for this summer?"

"Only 23, and can you believe it? None of them have called me back yet, pff!" Trina scoffed.

"Can't imagine why," Tori said. Again, almost rhetorically.

"Oh, yeah, that reminds me. I have another audition in the morning at 8, so I might not be able to take you to school," Trina said.

"Fine, I'll set my alarm to a half hour earlier."

The idea of getting a ride from her friends crossed her mind, but Tori had already learned first hand what a pain that could be. Just thinking of her friends filled her with warm thoughts and happy memories. She hadn't hung out with them much over the summer and she was excited to see all of them tomorrow.

"Can't believe tomorrow's the start of my senior year," she said.

"It's no big deal. It'll go by fast," Trina replied. "Within a year, you'll be back to being ordinary."

Tori half smiled. She wasn't sure if this was an insult, or a whatever.

"Thanks, Trina."

Her sister placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Tori. Even if you never get a single gig in your life, I'll still let you ride in the limo with me. You can run from the paparazzi and pretend like you're relevant and everything!"

Definitely an insult.

Bzzz...bzzz...

Trina's phone rang.

"Oh, that must be them!" she practically screamed.

She was so excited, that she didn't even check the caller ID on her phone before answering it.

"Hello? Mr. McKnight?" Trina listened for an answer before becoming annoyed. "Mom, are you serious right now? I'm waiting for my callback!...No, I haven't seen Dad's back wax!"
