Yugi looked up from his homework, his stomach growling ferociously. He sighed, rolling his eyes and placing his hand over the puzzle. "Other me?"
"Yes Yugi?" the former pharaoh said, looking a bit too innocent.
"I really don't mean to be rude, I really don't, but Grandpa's started complaining that I'm eating him out of house and home...and it's my house! Do you have something to do with me being hungry all the time?"
The former pharaoh considered lying, but in the end thought better of it. A pharaoh shouldn't lie to his people, especially his lighter half. "I really am sorry, Yugi...but I haven't eaten in five thousand years. Do you know how long five thousand years is?"
Yugi blinked. "Isn't it fi-"
"A very long time!" Yami snapped, then squirmed to see Yugi hang his head, the unfamiliar feelings of guilt reactivating after so long in the puzzle."I'm sorry..." he said softly. "It's been a very long time...A very long time since anything. Since I've eaten, since I've spoken...since I've even interacted with another being. I apologize if my treatment of you is a bit...rough."
"I understand..." Yugi said with a small smile. "It'll take some getting used to, but it shouldn't be that hard." His stomach gurgled agreement. "I guess we'll start with that," he chuckled, heading downstairs. "I think we have some ramen in the back of a cupboard somewhere."
