A/N: An established Harry/Cedric relationship fic. Written to try and spur on my writing of Changing Times, my other Ced/Harry fic.

Disclaimer: I own neither Harry Potter, Cedric Diggory nor the Lord of the Rings.

OOOOOO

He's gone. I can't believe he's left me all alone!

The house is cold and dark without him. The slight bang of the front door as he left the house still echoes in my ears and I shiver slightly as a cold draught whistles round the room.

I know I'm being stupid. I know it's no colder than before he left but somehow, without him here, it feels like winter.

It's strange. Our room feels so empty now. His shoes aren't by the bed; his cloak isn't slung over the door handle. All the little important things that make this room our room are just gone.

Slowly, reluctantly, I pull on my dressing gown and go and flop down in the living room. The house is silent, lacking something, something that only Cedric has, something vital to make this place a home.

I curl up on the sofa, tired out simply by Cedric's absence and fall asleep.

"Harry."

A word murmured on the edge of my consciousness pulls me back to the land of the living.

"What?"

"Wake up silly."

"Ced?"

"Yeah. Who did you think it was?"

I don't answer. Instead I leap up and fling my arms round Cedric, pulling him into a kiss.

"I'm so glad you came back."

"Harry," Cedric smiles, stroking my cheek "I just went to get some eggs."

"I thought you weren't coming back," I half sob into his shoulder.

"I was always going to come back. You need to stop panicking every time I go to the shop," he says, pulling me into a tight a hug and kissing the top of my head.

"How about you just don't go to the shop?" I ask hopefully.

"Ahh, but if I didn't go to the shop then I wouldn't have been able to buy this," Ced says, rummaging in his pocket and pulling out a small black box.

"It's not another bit of Lord of the rings memorabilia is it? Because I have no room left in my cupboard. No offence."

"Well, you could say that," Cedric says, dropping down onto one knee and flipping open the box to reveal a gold ring "Marry me?"

I stare at him for a moment before plucking the ring out of the box and slipping it onto my finger. I examine the ring for a moment. It's a near exact replica of the Ring of Power except the runes are wrong. I'll have to check them out later. Now I have more pressing matters.

I pull Cedric to his feet, smothering his face in kisses and pull him towards the bedroom.

"Harry! I went and got eggs specially. Don't make me waste them."

"Grrr… If you hadn't just proposed I'd say you loved eggs more than me!"

"You can't marry an egg," Cedric points out reasonably.

"I hate you sometimes," I joke, allowing Cedric to pull me into the kitchen "After you've made me your best ever omelette you're going to have to make it up to me."

"Of course," Cedric placates, kissing me gently on the hand before turning to the fried and starting to rummage.

As Ced begins to make the omelettes I pull out a copy of Lord of the Rings from the bookshelf behind me. Ten minutes of translating follows before I eventually snap the book closed and move to stand behind my fiancé.

I love calling him that!

"You know," I say, wrapping my arms round his waist from behind "You are the most incredible sap."

"And why is that?" he asks, still concentrating on the omelettes.

"Only you would get me a ring inscribed 'One Ring to Bind Them'. Honestly. And they say I'm the Lord of the Rings freak."

"Love you too."

OOOOOO

A/N: Okay, corny ending. I couldn't resist. The inscription is a play on the real inscription of the One Ring. So, what do you think?
