This is for the LJ Community enemy rival 100. Obviously, as the name of the Comm states, this is for pairs who are rivals or enemies. So I choose Ephraim and Innes (for the PKMN section, I choose Ash/Paul). I consider them rivals, even if it's a bit one-sided (which is why this fic is also subtitled Whether you like it or not).
So the chapters I'll be doing will range from angst, to humor, to whatever. Some maybe in first person, and other's might be in third person. K+ to M (overall, I'm rating this T to be safe). And I might use their original names as well sometimes.
Title: You're my Rival (whether you like it or not)
Prompt: 005. Rivals
Genre: General
Rating: K+
Word Count: 289
Summary: Ephraim would never forget the day he and Innes first became 'rivals'.
Rivals
Ephraim would remember that day for as long as he lived. It was only natural–when Tana brought it up in their conversation–that he would only remember what he did with him.
"Let me see how good you are with a bow." Innes said, grabbing the prince's hand and dragging him away from their sisters.
Oh, how frustrated Tana was when he said he didn't get a good look at the dress she had been wearing for her birthday.
The Frelian smirked, crossing his arms in triumph. "And now...how are you with a spear?"
Ephraim would have known that hairstyle Tana had been so happy about, if only he wasn't challenged again...
"Tch, you are mediocre at best. Now, onto jousting." He muttered, simply waving off his defeat as he closed his eyes.
There was no way he could have known what she had said afterward! The Prince of Renais groaned; Damn, Tana looks furious.
"You just keep having fun with my brother, Ephraim! And don't pay me any mind at all!" He watched as she stormed off; just what was she so angry about in the first place?
Innes pushed Ephraim against the castle wall, pointing a finger right in his face. "Mark my words, Prince Ephraim of Renais, from this day forth," The Frelian archer started, eyeing him angrily. "You are my rival," He trailed off and leaned in. "Whether you like it or not."
There's no way I would ever forget that. He scratched his head, looking on without a clue at Tana's back. Okay, he would admit that his memory was a little hazy about that day when it came to Innes' sister.
Yeah, he would get back to her later.
