Infinite Days

I don't own Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy/any of the characters contained herein.

Two years.

It had been two years, nine months, twenty-four days, and some odd hours since Cloud left.

Not that Riku was counting.

It had been approximately five years since Riku had moved to Radiant Garden. Five years since he met Squall. Four years, five months, and two weeks since Riku and Cloud had started dating.

Cloud and Riku had met in the Colloseum. Of course they had. Cloud worked for Hades, Riku worked for Maleficent. "With," he was always sure to correct, "I worked with Maleficent."

It was only a matter of time before they would bump into each other, or Hades would be talking to Cloud when Maleficent and Riku would show up. Cloud would inevitably be curious about the silver-haired, green-eyed boy who looked so familiar to the man he referred to as his darkness.

And they did, and he was, and it turned out Riku had nothing to do with Sephiroth, at least that he knew of, and in fact it was rather improbable though not impossible, but Cloud let the matter die.

After all, coincidences such as this one did happen, though not often.

They hit it off after a rocky start; Riku being unhappy, as was his right, to being involved with a murderous lunatic such as the one described. They spent more time walking through the underworld as opposed to leaning against opposite walls in a room while the villains conversed.

Until one day, Cloud disappeared, and then Hades, and then there was no longer any reason to return to the Underworld and Riku found himself a new goal.

He needed to return to Sora his memories.

Riku did not see Cloud after that, nor did he think he would ever again. Sora fixed the worlds and he and Riku returned home to a joyous Kairi and an equally as ecstatic King Mickey.

It didn't take long for Riku to become tired again of his world, feeling the same itch just below his skin as he had before the darkness came. He found himself staring at the sky, and knowing that other worlds existed out there, rather than guessing, made the itch that much worse.

He threw himself into school work, catching up on everything he'd missed and finishing early, hoping to relieve the wanderlust building up inside by not giving himself time to rest and dwell on it.

Salvation came in the form of a letter from King Mickey, addressed only to Riku. It was short, only a few words long.

It did not tell of conflict in the worlds or the need of help, but rather said, "If you want to go, go."

And so Riku found himself on a gummi ship with Radiant Garden set as his destination. He wasn't sure if he'd ever go home again.

AN: I wrote the majority of this fic in a night, but I'm going over it to do corrections and I'll probably be posting new chapters once a week.

It's currently six chapters long and almost complete, and I'll include a timeline at the end.

Also I hate the title so if you've got an idea at any point just leave it in a review.
