Chapter 1:
Jackie and Evan decided that things were rough enough after the death of the headmaster. The very idea that Death Eaters had entered the school to kill him was horrifying to the both of them. It meant that the place that they had thought was a safe haven now wasn't, and that meant they were in danger.
They were both Muggle-borns, also known as Mud bloods by the ones who would hurt them. They knew that if hunters walked into an animal sanctuary then the animals should most probably leave. From what they had heard many other muggle-borns were also going on the run, among those who were running was the famous Harry Potter.
So during the summer, Jackie and Evan made their plans. They put undetectable expansion charms on their bags and packed them full of camping gear, food, clothes, and medicine. They knew how to be on their own, without society. While growing up they had lived on the same street, and had gone on many camping trips in the summer. However, that was before magic.
The two of them didn't know what was wrong with them, but Evan was fair enough to know it wasn't right what was happening, and Jackie was smart enough to know that this was the best option for them both. Hopefully, they would know enough magic to be on their way. This way they could be together without dying.
So they day they were supposed to catch the train, they apparated to the woods and set up camp. While Jackie set up the protective barriers around the camp, Evan pitched the tent. When they were both finished, they both sat down and sighed. At least they could relax a little. After a moment, Jackie spoke.
"Do you think we did the right thing? Running away I mean." She asked Evan,
"It was your idea." He told her, "and I agreed." He added,
"Maybe we should've told our parents where we were going." She suggested,
"That would've been a really bad idea. One, we don't know where we're going; and two, then the death eaters would've been able to find us easier."
"I know." Jackie said,
"Then why did you ask?" Evan asked puzzled,
"I'm just...questioning it." Jackie admitted,
"Listen, my parents never even knew I was a wizard. They just assumed that Hogwarts was some boarding school. What about you?"
"I sort of...managed their memories to make them want to go on a month long vacation to America."
"You did what?" Evan asked, sort of shocked with what Jackie did.
"I didn't know what else to do. I just wanted to go far away, to escape the... carnage." Jackie said, "But now I feel so alone."
"We have each other, don't we?" Evan asked her with a smile,
"I guess so." Jackie sighed,
"That was the plan," Evan reminded her, "We'd runaway so we could be together where the ministry couldn't find us."
"I remember, Evan. I'm the one who made it up."
"Than why do you sound like you're unhappy?"
"It'll just be weird...to give it all up; to be out of the loop of what's going on, to be away from it all." Jackie admitted. Then Evan kissed her, to perk her up.
"We've done it before, and we can do it again." He told her confidently, she smiled and added,
"Right, we're just camping, nothing more." She told herself,
"Agreed, and when we're done we'll go home." He finished, and walked away to take in more of the scenery. Before Jackie got up to join him she mumbled to herself, "If there's even a home to go back to." she tried to ignore the thought, although she secretly feared the worse.
A/N: Hey everyone, this is my first romantic fan fiction. So, it might not be very good in the terms of romance. Also, I don't know what else might happen to these two, so I might just end it there. However, if I get any more ideas I might add to it. Until then, I hope you enjoyed this much of it.
Talk to you later, Love.
