A/N: Thanks to everyone for their patience! As promised, here's the beginning of 'Becoming More Human'. Each drabble will most likely be stand alone, short, and probably unbeta'd. They all take place after 'Less Than Human', and will probably grouped into pre-epilogue and post-epilogue.

I look forward to writing more, and I hope you all enjoy them as they come along!

This one is pre-epilogue

The sound was haunting his sleep.

At the beginning of Piffle Princess Organization, Kurogane got a job that, unsurprisingly, unsuited him. He wasn't made for sitting behind a desk and shuffling through papers, but he suffered through it for Tomoyo (because if he didn't have the job, then he'd be out of one) and Fai (because, well, he loved the android, damn it all). Because of the job, Kurogane got many e-mails a night, and after awhile decided to just ask Fai if he'd connect to the wireless and just gather them all during the night. That way, Kurogane could do his usual morning activities (shower, get dressed eat) and still get at least some of the work out of the way, listening to and responding to emails using Fai to read and write them.

It would have worked wonderfully if not for one thing.

Fai's built in announcement noise was the most annoying thing in the world.

"Ding a ling!"

Kurogane lifted his head off the pillow, glaring at the android still in sleep mode. It wouldn't had been so bad if Fai hadn't been so loud about it. But every time he heard that damn -

"Ding a ling!"

- noise, he kind of wanted to strangle Fai, though it wasn't his fault. It was loud enough to bring attention to Fai, and unfortunately Kurogane was a light sleeper these days. Every time an email came around (and they did at all hours, thanks for Piffle Princess getting it's claws into places all over the world), Fai would make that noise, and Kurogane would be woken.

"Fai." Kurogane tried. He'd been putting up with this for a week and a half. There had to be something he could do. "Fai," he tried again, louder, before sighing and just shaking the android's shoulder. "Fai!"

Fai stirred and looked over at Kurogane. "Kuro-puppy, what? It can't be morning…"

"Change your default announcement noise."

"My what?" Fai rubbed at his eyes.

"What do you mean 'my what'?" Kurogane growled, more impatient than usual from lack of sleep.

"I have no idea what you're talking about Kuro-puppy." Fai rolled over, careful of the cord sticking out of his arm, and snuggled against Kurogane's chest. "I'm going back to sleep."

It was silent for only a moment. And then - "Ding a ling!"

"Fucking androids," Kurogane said, and groped around on the bedside table in search of earplugs.
