''Primrose Everdeen,'' My sisters name was froze in the air. I glanced backwards at my mother, who stared at Effie Trinket in astonishment and sadness. Me, on the other hand, had no expression whatsoever. I just bit back a gasp, biting my lip in the process, forming blood.

I saw little Prim slowly make her way towards the stage. Effie Trinket smiled down at her and held her hand out for her. Prim looked back at me and mother. I tried to say something, anything, but no words came out. I couldn't scream, speak, or even gasp. I felt warm tears eaze down my face as I watched my baby sister stand on the stage, beside Effie, her future being pulled away from her.

''Any volunteers?'' Effie asked cooly. Scanning everyones faces.

No one answered. No one did anything. Even me, a coward I was. ''Excellent!'' She said.

Then she reached her pale hand into the boys bowl and pulled out another slip of paper. And my world fell apart even more. ''Gale Hawthorne,'' She announced.

I quickly looked at Gale. His face emotionless. I knew Gale wasn't scared. But what about Prim? I couldn't deny that Prim's fate has just been picked out. Prim never hunted, she didn't know anything about survival. And what would Gale do? Would he look after her like I thought he would? Would he risk his own life for hers?

I broke out of my thoughts to see Gale, Prim, and Effie walking backstage. My mother found me and hugged me tightly. I felt more tears fall down.

When it was time to visit the tributes. Me and mother went up to see Prim one last time. We burst thruh the door and Prim cried and ran towards us. Mom was smoothing down Prim's hair and holding her tight, while I stood there. I felt more and more guilty by the seconds passing by. Prim simply stared at me and rushed over to hug me. She didn't seem mad at me at all, I think I was more mad at myself than anyone else was. I was mad because Prim could've been saved. I could've saved her.

After me and mom cried and cried with Prim, until our three minutes were up. I went to visit Gale. I ran thruh the door and hugged him, when I saw him standing there, waiting.

He smoothed my hair. ''Don't worry, Catnip. She'll be fine.'' He promised.

I whimpered and pulled away. ''What about you?'' I questioned.

His eyes darkened a bit. ''She'll win, Catnip.'' He promised once again. But I realized the double meaning behind his words. He was going to make sure she won, even though it meant his death.

I cried and buried myself into his chest. ''Thank you,'' I whispered.

Then one of the people from the Capital rushed in and declared that our three minutes were over. Gale smiled one last time as they dragged me out.
