Erm…Monkey Man?

A storm hung, heavy, over the Cullen's baseball game. The play was furious, and you could almost taste the competition in the humid air; thick with tension. There was a crash as ball flew towards Emmett who, with one lithe movement, rebounded gracefully off a nearby tree. He landed perfectly composed, staring intensely back at the rest of the game. Bella had to stop herself gaping, you'd think he had trained as a ballet dancer (cue mental image of Emmett in tutu!!) Rosalie smiled seductively over at him.

"My monkey man"

There was silence. Everyone looked at her.

"What did you say?" Alice dropped the ball that Emmett had just thrown to her.

"Nothing…" Rosalie tried to look nonchalant, playing with her hair.

"Yes you did" said Edward, walking over to her and grinning like all Bella's christmas' had come at once. "You said…"

"My Monkey man?" Emmett repressed a laugh as he zoomed over to her. "Baby, what the hell?"

"I don't know why I said it! It just popped into my head!" Rosalie cowered away from their sniggers. "Oh that Meyer woman has had it now!" She took out her cell,

"You have reached the answer phone of Stephanie Meyer, I'm probably out or trying to explain to someone why the hell I thought breaking dawn was a good idea! Please leave a message." BEEP.

"Good luck with that one…" whispered Edward, privately thinking that no amount of explanation would ever justify having Jacob as a prospective son in law.

"Look can we just get on with the game?" said Carlisle rationally because Rosalie looked as though she was about to hurt something (a common but no less frightening occurrence).

"Just forget I said anything…" Rosalie walked away, pulling her cap down over her golden eyes.

"Sure thing…" Emmett said, walking in the opposite direction. "…monkey girl…" he was slammed into the floor quicker than you can say "end of one shot."
