Summary: He was tired of the pain.

Warning: Thoughts of suicide & angst.

He stood in his office and stared out the window. Rain. Thunder. Lightning. Exactly how he felt on the inside. He was tired of the pain. The pain of his past. The abuse as a child. The fights as a teenager. The arguments as an adult. He knew his marriage falling apart was his fault. Like everything else wrong with his life. He pretended that nothing was wrong, that he was still his stoic self. But inside he was a raging thunderstorm destroying his sanity. He turned away from the window and sat down at his desk. He sighed and opened one of his drawers. A bottle of scotch sat in the drawer, taunting him. He ran a hand over his face and reached behind him into his coat pocket. He pulled out a small orange bottle and fingered the cap.

Today was the day.

There was a soft knock on his door and he quickly tossed the small bottle into his open drawer and shut it.

"Come in." He spoke. His door opened and in walked Garcia. His inner-thunderstorm immediately stopped. She was the team's personal ray of sunshine. He couldn't help but smile inwardly at the site of her.

"We have a case sir. Jayje told me to let you know."

"Thank you Pen. I'll be there in a moment." Garcia had a surprised look on her face. He never called her Pen. She didn't say anything, she just smiled brightly at him and walked out. He stood up and walked back to the window. The rain stopped and rays of sunshine were peaking through the clouds. How could he think about killing himself when there was beauty like her in the world? Every day they see the most horrible things but she always has a smile on her face to pull everyone else through the day. How could he not live for her smile? Today was not the day. But one day, she will be gone for whatever reason.

And that will be the day he will be gone, too.
