Bright Eyes
A Sweeney Todd/ Watership Down Crossover
The winds were howling the rain was falling as the small piece of wood bucked and jolted across the water. The two rabbits onboard clung on for their very lives. The small wooden sheet was moments away from capsizing when it finally hit the bank of the river. The two rabbits clambered off and looked around.
"Here we are. There's no place like the Downs" exclaimed one. He was a largish pale cream colour.
"True there is no place quite like this" said the other in a much deeper, darker voice. He was a large brown rabbit that had scars across his body, his left ear was torn and he was blind in one eye.
"Is everything alright Campion?" asked the pale rabbit.
"Yes. Do forgive me Moss my mind is far from meeting, in these once familiar hills I feel shadows everywhere."
"Shadows Campion?"
"Yes. There was a rabbit and his mate and she was beautiful. A foolish rabbit and his mate she was his reason and his life and she was beautiful and she was virtuous and he was naive"
"What happened to them?" asked Moss eager to know.
"Another rabbit saw that she was beautiful. A pious vulture of the law who with a gesture of his claw, removed the rabbit from his plate, then there was nothing but to wait and she would fall so soft, so young and oh so beautiful."
"So what happened to her?" Moss dared to ask.
"That was many seasons ago, I doubt if anyone would know. I'd like to thank you Moss. If it wasn't for you I'd be in the river still."
"It was what any rabbit would have done. Till then my friend." Said Moss "Where will you be?"
"Around Efrafa I shouldn't wonder."
"Till then my friend" Moss said cheerfully but Campion had already gone, running across the field adjacent to them. He was muttering something rather like a mantra.
"There's a hole in the world like a great black pit and it's filled with people that are filled with shit and the vermin of the world inhabit it…"
