Chapter One: Memories

Authors Note: This is my first Stucky fanfic, and I hope you, the readers, enjoy it. This story will eventually contain more chapters. There will also be a few time jumps in the story; however I will focus on important events in the story at times. Sorry this may be short, but after all, it's my first story. :- )

Captain America Exhibit, Smithsonian, Washington DC

Bucky Barnes would stand in the crowd of the busy and fast-moving exhibit, staring down at a glass display case. In it would contain pictures from the war. Specifically one that caught Bucky's eye was a picture of James Buchanan Barnes. The man he used to be: A short-haired, clean-shaven man in military uniform. He was smiling. But the reflection from the glass case put another image back at Bucky. A rough man with long hair hidden under a baseball cap, stubble growing on his chin, and a bionic arm hidden under his coat was who he could see now. Next to the main in the photo stood a tall, blonde, and sparkly-eyed man in a uniform. None like an army soldier's uniform. However he was the strongest soldier in that camp. He wore a red, white, and blue padded uniform, carrying a shield. This man was Captain America. He was Steven Grant Rogers. The same beautiful man that Bucky had beaten senseless on the helicarrier nose-diving into the Potomac. HYDRA had caused those actions, and it landed Steve in the hospital. He had promised Steve's mother when they were kids that he would always watch over Steve, in a big-brother sort of way. But now he had done the opposite. So far from the opposite in fact, he needed to see Steve. Bucky had the urge to track down every HYDRA bastard and end them for what they had tricked him into doing to Steve. But that isn't what Steve would've wanted. He wished for Steve to be in his life, ever since they were kids. But then, that hadn't a clue what connection they had. But now he understood. Steve was his punk, and Bucky was his jerk. They needed each other.
