Centuries have past and Jacob Black is long gone.
But the pain of losing him still lingers in the beating heart of
Renesmee. And it will keep on aching, specially now that they're
coming back to the rainy Forks, Washington where it all happened.
"Damn! I miss this place!" Emmett exclaims as he enters the foyer.
Yes, this is the place where she first laid her eyes on Jacob. Where
he first carried her in his arms. Those warm arms she dearly missed.
The moment when she first touched his face to show him her first
memory of him. Out in the courtyard where they used to race on the
snow and hunt.
She misses him so much it hurts.
Her Jacob.
Her shapeshifter.
Her wolf.
Her own protector.
She misses the day when she was finally allowed to date him. Their
long walks on the beach. When they first cliff dive. And when Jacob
first introduced her to the pack as his girlfriend. The half-vampire
he imprinted on.
When they secretly kissed but Alice and Edward already knew before it
even happened.
She could still vividly remember the night of Jacob's passing.
He was old and weak, but Renesmee was still as in love with him as she
was in love with him on the day of their wedding.
"I ... Love you, Nessie." Jacob whispered weakly.
Tears were streaming down her face but she still managed to put on a
smile. "Didn't mum had already beaten you up for calling me that?" she
tried to joke.
"It was just adrenaline rush, she just hunted." he stated. "And she
was a newborn for crying out loud, even Emmett couldn't take her down.
And she's a girl."
Renesmee laughed humorlessly as he took his wrinkly hand and pressed
it against her cheek.
"I love you, Jake." she murmured.
"Still?"
Her brows furrowed. "Why- I will always love you Jake, my heart oddly
beats for you."
"Nice," he laughed.
She cried for years when he passed. Not because he's forever gone but
because of what she realised.
Jacob never completely loved her.
His dying breathe confirmed it when he said her name.
She may be the girl he imprinted on, but she never truly had his
heart. It belongs to someone else.
And she knew it the moment he said "Bella ..." with his dying breathe.

because she and Bella are so much alike.
