It was 1 AM and Merida was still wide awake. The thought of the ceilidh her dad was putting on for the celebration of Elinor's return to human form made her excited. She loved a good ceilidh. She was so tired though too. So, she decided she'd go in to her parents' room and wake her mom since she'd be able to put her to sleep.
"Mum? Mum! I can't sleep," she whispered into Elinor's ear.
"Oh. Merida. Why not?" she asked curiously.
"I'm excited for the ceilidh."
"I've got just the thing," smiled Elinor.
They headed back to Merida's room, Elinor shutting the door and Merida climbing into bed. Elinor pulled the covers right up to her chin and began to sing. It was a very old song, but one Merida remembered well; "Noble Maiden Fair". Elinor sang and sang, until finally, a comforting sigh was heard. Merida had finally fallen fast and soundly to sleep.
"Good night, Merida," whispered Elinor, kissing her now heavily-sleeping princess on the cheek and leaving the room.
