Summary: He burned her just like the rest and yet she still loved the way he lied to her.

They had shown him to her, had even allowed her to hold him for ten minutes before they took him away and she was back to feeling like Alex Udinov, the little girl left out in the cold with the monster baying in the darkness.

They had told her it was for the best; for both him and her.

When she lashed out and had to be drugged it was because of post natal depression and not the fact that the only good thing she ever did in her life was being torn away from her. She had blamed them all; Division and him because neither really wanted her.

For a genius Birkhoff had no idea what power he had over her; there on the run trying to reach Nikita before Division could, he had no idea what part of her world he completed when he told her that she meant a lot to him because he had watched her grow in to a more beautiful butterfly than the one on her neck.

But then he had spurned her, had told her that she was still Division no matter how many times she proved she was never one of them. When Nikita was back and Division just nipping at their heels, Birkhoff had left her to burn, had stood by and watched them take her away again. Just like everyone else he was going to stand there and watch her burn for their sins.

The months past and she swore to never ask for help again; until she needed help.

But the monsters were left to help, to guide her through the months as her body changed and she helped that life within her grow and become strong. She had begged them to leave him with her, begged them to just leave her alone as her waters broke and she knew she was truly alone.

Their new hope, they didn't give him a name like she would have, like she had done. They just wanted what he offered and she hated them.

Six months of being half the woman she was meant to be now and she was rescued; taken from that dark cold tower and away from the monsters but she hated them all. She hated the woman who once saved her, she hated her only friend within Division and most of all she hated the man who could have changed it for her.

She told her story; ignored his look when she spoke about the child she should have been holding in her arms.

She didn't believe them when they promised to save the child; to bring him back to his mother, but she allowed them their lies because after all this time of being burnt by them she feared the thought of feeling nothing else.

And when he made that fathers promise to have his son back she just accepted it because in the end they all lied.

She just learnt to love the way he lied.
