Heartbreak
Jack Stewart contemplated another sunny day at community general hospital. It was his afternoon break and he was on his second cup of coffee.
A sunny day. The skies were clear and blue. There wasn't one cloud to be seen for what seemed to be miles.
A frightening irony to the gloom he felt was overshadowing him following the nightmare he had endured that morning. They'd lost a young couple following an unfortunate car accident. Jack had used a defibrillator in vein, trying to recapture the dwindling life of his patient and was feeling like crap. He, like any other doctor detested losing a patient. Even though he knew it was an almost inevitable occupational hazard which came with the oath, he was still deeply affected by it. What was more he had a niggling feeling that something about his patient was bugging him. He had the slightest feeling that he should suspect foul play –
"Get a grip, Jack" he said quietly to himself.
He chuckled to himself quietly. He was starting to sound like Mark. Questioning why his patient, with minor injuries had gone into cardiac arrest, when she had no history of heart trouble, nor was the accident grossly horrific enough to warrant such a quick death...
'Perhaps it was she shock', Jack thought to himself.
Their car had collided with another during the morning rush hour. The car's body work had taken the brunt of the impact, but the two were still bruised and battered.
"Hi, Jack!"
The mental pictures dissipated by the sound of a familiar and friendly voice.
"Is anybody sitting here?".
It was his friend and close confident, Mark Sloan.
"Be my guest, Mark" invited Jack happily. It was always nice to see Dr. Sloan. Even after losing a patient, Jack could still find solace in Mark's benevolent grin.
"I noticed you had the female passenger this morning as one of your patients..." Mark began.
