"Oh!" Alice gasped, staring off into space.
Bella glanced over at Edward, with a knowing look on her face. "Another vision, Alice?"
"Yes," Alice said slowly. "We are going to have a visitor.....but I can't really tell who it is. It's really odd." Alice looked frustrated. She hated when her visions came in weird.
Edward paused for a second, listening in on Alice's thoughts. "Wow, Alice, that is odd."
"Well, are you guys going to tell the rest of us what's going on, or do I have to shake it out you?" Emmett said, rolling his eyes.
They were all sitting on the front steps of the house, watching Renesmee play in the yard with Jacob. Bella and Edward were playing cards, Emmett and Jasper were having a very rough thumb wrestling match, and Alice was painting Rosalie's fingernails. Esme was watching from the doorway, and Carlilse was behind her, with his arms around her waist.
About the time Emmett was asking about Alice's vision, they all heard a vehicle playing loud music turn into the driveway.
"Did that really just turn off the the highway?" Rosalie said, incredulity strong in her voice. "Do you think they could turn the radio any louder? Ugh, what kind of music is that anyway?"
Alice was still trying to figure out her vision, her pretty face screwed up in concentration. "A young human woman? Light brown hair, not skinny, but not fat, with odd blue eyes. Does that sound like anyone we know?" She asked with confusion.
Bella gasped, listening to the music. "Oh my God, it's Lex! It has to be."
Edward looked at her, "You never mentioned anyone named Lex. Was this a friend of yours in Phoenix?"
Before Bella could answer him, a large, blue truck turned came up the driveway into sight.
"Are you serious? What kind of girl drives a truck? Bleh!" Rosalie said, a disgusted look on her face.
"Well, she's kind of......well, she's one of a kind, that's all I can say about her. Oh, Carlisle, what do we do? She doesn't know about me, and I know she is going to be able to see the difference." Bella said, panic in her eyes. She stood up quickly, and grabbed Renesmee to her. Edward stood up, and put his arm around her. He handed her a pair of sunglasses to cover her eyes about the time the truck came to a stop.
The girl behind the wheel was looking through the windshield with an odd, sharp look on her face as she looked at Bella. Her eyes were hidden behind her own sunglasses, but they could all see her eyebrows raise up sharply. After a short while, she cocked her head to the side, and looked up at the ceiling of her truck with an shake of her head. They could all hear her gasp when she saw Renesmee and Edward with Bella. She almost smiled until she looked at Edward a little longer, then the odd, sharp look came back.
Without leaving her truck, she scanned the group of people in front of her. Her face scrunched up as she looked over Alice, Rosalie, and Emmett. As she looked at Jasper, they could all see her body tense. After another second, her vision went to Esme and Carlisle in the doorway. At this point, they could all see her relax. She took a deep breath, then, with a small hesitation, and looking directly at Carlisle, she removed her sunglasses. Looking straight into Carlisle's eyes, she dipped her head in a respectful bow.
Now it was Carlisle's turn to gasp. Everyone turned to look at Carlisle. Then, with a small bow back to the girl, he let out a small chuckle.
He turned to Bella, his face showing disbelief,"Good heavens, Bella, have you ever been friends with anyone who was a pure human?"
