Authors Note: Doing a Rowena/Salazar sounded like a good idea and I got some people behind me who seem to like the idea too.

So anyway.

Rowena (17)/Salazar (16) (you know the drill.)

Following up on my Godric/Helga ('Magic')

Yup. That's how it's going to work! As far as ye olde English, just don't expect it. Hehe. Not too many descriptions of the castle either.

"Salazar," she said evenly, "are you happy here?"

He bent down to examine a hole in the brick flooring. "Honestly," he said, eyeing her oddly, "what sort of question is that?"

"One that normal people ask other normal people."

"I'm here," he said. "That's all you need to know."

She rolled her scarlet tinted eyes. "Well," she said bitterly, "I'm not happy here."

He got up off the floor and looked her straight in the eyes. "You're here, and that's all that matters."

Moving herself away from him she leaned against the jade wall. Scrolls of parchment underneath her plain black shoes with pink bows. "I hate this, Salazar. I hate living here with you and Godric and Helga. I hate making this school and living alone-"

"You aren't alone, you have me," he interjected

"You might as well be no one," she replied savagely. "You're like a bloody stone."

"What's it to you? I'm not here to skip about and be happy. I'm here to make a school so my heirs and kin can uphold tradition and magic-"

"Who cares about your heirs and kin? Not me, that's for sure."

He acted as though she had said nothing.

"Some of us actually want to pass on the traditions of our ancestors."

"And some of us find it best to simply close our mouths."

Just then a sandy-haired fellow popped his head out of a cluttered classroom. "Another lovers spat eh mates?"

"What I do is none of your business, Godric, go back to whatever you were doing," Rowena said adjusting the rose clasp of her cloak.

He, of course, sensed a problem and merely tucked himself back into the newly furnished classroom.

"Look at all of these secret passageways," Salazar said as he tapped his wand on red bricks. The red bricks moved aside to reveal a tunnel.

"I wonder where it leads to," she said, obviously interested.

"I don't care," was the flat reply. "But we best try to mend some of them up, I don't want our students next year to find ways around the rules."

"Of course not," Rowena said caustically. "Heaven forbid they actually act their age and try something fun for a minute."

"This school was built for education, you, of all people can understand that right Rowena?"

"Right," she gritted out.

He raked a hand through his curly, charcoal-colored hair and sent a glare in her direction. "Right."

"Godric and Helga can help us," Rowena added.

"Like they ever do anything around here," was the bitter reply. "Plus, we don't need their help, do we? Just you and me, right?"

He pushed a strand of stray, chocolate-brown hair away from her scarlet eyes and kissed her. He smelled of cold brick and lemon drops. The kiss was over quickly and she stepped away, her eyes meeting his.

"Just you and me," she said, smiling.
