AN: You don't have to, but If you want a better understanding of why I love this song, and relate it to Harry and Ginny, and their life, I would seriously consider downloading it or finding some way to hear it because it is absolutely incredible. This is a short fic because it's a short song, so yeah, enjoys.
Naked As We Came by Iron & Wine
Harry sat quietly thinking in his dimly lit living room, it was nearing 3:00 in the morning and Ginny lay curled up beside him, asleep on his shoulder.
After nineteen years it was still incredible to him that he made it this far and that he now has nothing to hide from. He has a family, a real family; everything he's always wanted is right at arms reach.
He thought about walking back into the forest. What he thought about, it was all her, and now here she is.
She says "wake up, it's no use pretending"
I'll keep stealing, breathing her.
It pained him to think how much it would have hurt her if he hadn't made it. It scared him to think that this life he had right now could have easily never happened at all.
This as well as an uneasy thought, made him feel so grateful. He would live a good long life with Ginny and his children.
Being alive might not occur to most people as something to be thankful for, because it's just there, but for Harry Potter, 'The Boy Who Lived' he was appreciative of it everyday of his life, and when his time reaches it's conclusion, he would be happy, surrounded by his friends, and his children, and most important, Ginny.
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
And he would always be there for her.
And for now he would enjoy every moment.
One will spread our ashes 'round the yard
She says "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"
He though about Lily, James, and Albus sleeping soundly in their beds, mere hours before they would be dropped of at the Hogwarts Express.
He knew Albus would do well, it being his first year, and it was a comforting thought to know James was there to look out for him.
An overwhelming feeling of happiness washed over him every time he thought about his children, and the great things they would do in the future.
In time he would tell them the stories.
He knew they would be thrilled to hear of his past, of Dumbledore's army, of the heroic battles, and of defeating Voldemort, but he wasn't quite ready to tell them the extent of it. In time though, he knew he must, when they're ready.
I lay smiling like our sleeping children
One of us will die inside these arms
He stood up, slowly removing Ginny's head from his shoulder and laid her down properly, covering her with a blanket. He kneeled down beside her and moved the hair from her face and kissed her cheek lightly.
He peeked through the doorways of each of his children's bedrooms, stopping each time to savor the image.
When he returned to the living room he sat back down on the chair beside the couch. He wouldn't sleep tonight, no, he would enjoy the last night with his whole family until the Christmas holidays, and enjoy the comfort of their presence, all sleeping under the same roof.
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes round the yard
AN: Alright, this ones pretty bad, but I looove that song, and since I read deathly hallows I think of this story when I hear it. So please tell me what you think.
