Captain America is dead, along with, what I belive is the morales he stood for. Some say he was out of touch, but I think it's us who is out of touch. If we could see America through rose colored glasses,as he did, our character would be so much better. The timming of his death should also tell you something. Steve Rogers lived through World War 2, the Vietnam War, the 60s, but when our government is at it's worst, and more lives are being lost every day in this Iraqi War than any other war in history, and let's face it, our President isn't entirely all there, he dies. This truly is America's darkest hour. When we kill our greatest defender , then we must ask ourselves, what is going on?! Do we have such little faith in America, that we kill the last true patriot? Ask yourself, why is America great? Usually our first answer is freedom. But do we really have the freedom that we should have? That our ancesters wanted us to have and protect? Captain America belived in every single one of us. Don't get confused, he belived in our rights as American people, not that the American people should always follow their government. He saw the potential America has. The potential the pilgrims saw when they first came here. He is who we should aspire to be. The person children should look up to. Not the celebrities they choose as role models today. When was the last time you felt proud on Independence Day? Got goosebumps or teared up a little when the fireworks started? Whenever we felt like the American dream was dead or we gave up on our country, he reminded us that there is hope. No matter how hard it is to see. Now that he is dead, we must still carry that tiny glimmer of hope with us wherever we go.
