Ochako Uraraka and Mina Ashido had taken up practicing boxing together at the U.A. High gymnasium. It was in all honesty a perfect opportunity for them to practice improving their combat techniques, without effectively using even their own quirks. Ochako wrapped her hair up in a small braid before slipping on on the pink power gloves over her wrapped hands. Mina cooled herself with a splash of fountain water before giving off a reassuring smirk at Ochako.
"You ready for this?" The pink-haired girl with animal horns chanted on, clenching her fists happily.
"Heh, just don't go all too easy on me, Pinky." Ochako responded with a wink, smirking.
Once they were in the ring, both girls stood their ground with determination. Ochako tucked her chin into the top ridge of her chest, both elbows to the side and her wrists protruding vertically. Mina was standing on the opposite side of the ring, cracking her neck to relieve slight tension as she stood in stance. At the sound of a bell chime, they were incited. Mina took some slow steps in, carefully keeping a crouch on as Ochako followed. Ochako goes in for a cross swing, only for Mina to bob opposite in tilt.
"What's the matter, Uraraka? Nervous?" Mina taunted, but out of playful encouragement and not discourtesy.
"Pfft, this is honestly nothing. All that practice with hand-to-hand combat in my volunteer work has strengthened my instincts if anything." Ochako responded, cocky and confident. The auburn-haired girl swung again another cross as Mina parried it away. "Her repercussions are quick..." She pondered. "I got to at least make a direct strike when her guard is opened up!".
Mina went for a quick slug at Ochako after she managed to get an opening. However, it only slightly swept aside her left cheek. Ochako was picking up on bobbing out of direction of Mina's aims, putting up a slick hook swing in Mina's direction.
"I see your defenses and dodges are pretty dynamic too!" Mina sneered. Ochako went for an agile duck as Mina attempted a cross swing. They continued landing punches in attempt to turn down their many tries, usually blocked or leaving only a small bump upon each other.
"I'm not ready to give in just yet, Mina..." Ochako explained. The pink-haired girl returned a confident grin, nodding her head softly in correspondence. Mina attempted to strike with a jab, but was blocked off by Ochako's sudden shielding with both wrists. Mina stepped back a bit, stunned. With this opportunity, Ochako went in while her opponent's guard was down, launching a directly uppercut swing at them. Mina was knocked over to the ropes, stuttering a bit as she smeared her fluorescent teal glove softly upon the bruise that was delivered.
"Oh my! I'm so sorry, Mina, I didn't mean to hit you so hard!" Ochako muttered, teary-eyed and fearful she had deeply injured one of her best friends. She tucked her face between her pink gloves, embarrassed profoundly.
"Heh, are you kidding, Uraraka?" Mina chuckled. "That was an intense strike to launch while my guard wasn't fully-prepared. Besides, it's just a small bruise. Nothing a little ice won't calm down." She got up, carefully wrapping her arm over Ochako's shoulder with prestige reassurance. "I think you'd do just fine if you needed to directly fight using your fists clenched."
Ochako returned a warming, small smile as she walked along with Mina. "Thank you Mina..." She spoke. "...You did great out there yourself with your agility and precise abilities to dodge." The two girls shared a laugh as they went to pack up their gear and rest up for a bit.
