Chapter 1

One day 10 year old Rory has just gotten home from school without Jess and lays on the couch with a pillow behind her and gets her books out to study and do homework and catch up on her recreational reading that she hasn't had any extra time to do when Jimmy Mariano also Jess's father also Lorelai's fianc'e and Rory's step father to be comes down the stairs from taking a shower and goes over to the couch.

"hey sweetie." he says kissing her head softly

"hi." she says

"how was your day baby?" he wonders

"fine." she tells him

"good, where's Jess?" he wonders

"oh he had to stay after school in detention because he was fighting Chuck Presby on the playground during recess." Rory tells him

"that kid still bugging him?" Jimmy wonders

"yeah I guess so." Rory tells him

"well do you know what time that he's going to be getting out of and coming home from detention?" Jimmy asks her

"no." she tells him

"okay." Jimmy says

"Mommy still at work?" she wonders

"she is; Actucally I was just about to make my way over there now come with?" Jimmy asks her

Rory nods '"kay." she says and puts her stuff down on the couch and gets up and leaves the house with Jimmy

They make thier way over to the Independence Inn and see Lorelai helping a customer in the Lobby with her folder notebook open.

"hey." Jimmy says

"Mommy!" Rory says happily

Lorelai gasps "hey guys!" she says happily to see them and kisses the both of them

"so where's Jess?' she wonders

"he had to stay after school in detention for fighting with Chuck Presby." Rory tells her

"ugh." Lorelai groans rollling her eyes

"so what are we doing for dinner tonight?; You busy or do you wanna go out somewhere?' Jimmy asks her

"no I'm not busy and okay sounds good." she tells him

"good." Jimmy says looking into her sparkling blue eyes

Lorelai looks back into his and just smiles at him and comes back down and snaps back into reality.

"so what time is Jess getting home from detention?" Lorelai asks him

"I don't know.' Jimmy tells her

"do you know sweetie?" Lorelai wonders

"no.' Rory tells her

"okay." Lorelai says
