AN: So, here's the second birthday fic for America!

Enjoy!

Alfred awoke to the familiar room of his childhood. He frowned in confusion. 'What the hell happened here?' He got up and padded to the closet, only to be stopped by a familiar, soft voice. "Al!"

America turned, blue eyes wide, to see Matthew there. As a child. Again. "Mattie?"he asked.

Matthew smiled brightly and ran to his brother, giving him a tight hug. "Happy birthday!"he exclaimed softly. "C'mon! Arthur's already gotten breakfast made..well, it was a double effort between him and Papa.."

Alfred let his brother lead him down to the kitchen.

There, he was immediately greeted with birthday wishes from both Francis and Arthur. It surprised him, caught him off guard.

Breakfast was a quiet affair. It was odd. From what Alfred did remember from his childhood, if Arthur and Francis were in the same room, they were arguing constantly. But they weren't.

Francis took the boys out, giving Arthur a look.

"So, boys, where to first?"

Matthew smiled. "The park?"he asked.

Alfred nodded along happily, so that's where they went. They spent a lot of their day there, just playing around. To Alfred, it felt nice to be a kid again. No more worries about things for a while. Just play around.

Francis took them back home after a while, and Alfred stopped short when they entered to a simple birthday party layout. Matthew nudged him forward.

When Alfred didn't step forward, Matthew pulled him along gently. Francis smiled as he watched this interaction between the brothers.

Arthur gave both boys a kind smile and then met Francis's eyes. He rolled his eyes, but said nothing.

Still, Alfred noticed this. It was normal.

The party was small, just a family thing. But it was nice. Alfred enjoyed it. He'd missed stuff like this.

That evening's dinner was uneventful. They all ended up having a night in, Arthur and Francis taking turns reading books to the boys.

At bed time, Alfred didn't argue against them when they told him to go get ready for bed. He was exhausted.

Matthew turned over in his bed to look at his brother after the two elders had left. "Al?"he asked in a whisper.
Alfred raised his head. "Yeah?"he asked.

Matthew smiled softly. "Happy birthday. Love you."

Alfred smiled. "Love you too, Mattie."

"Did you have fun today?"Matthew asked softly.

Alfred thought it over before he spoke. "Yeah. Yeah, I did."

The following morning, though, Alfred woke up in his bed in a messy room, back as an adult. He sighed. Man that had been a good dream...

But he missed the sigil on the bedside table.

Here ya go.
