Hello everyone. Here is this St David's day special. Today is 1st of March, which celebrates St David's day in wales. I hope you enjoy it. :)
A battle between the Welsh and the Saxons is taking place, both sides fighting each other as they fought for supremacy. The casualties are mounting up on each other as the battle continued to go on and on as the fighting became more fierce. Unfortunely it is the Welsh, who have the most casualties.
The battle has been lasting for hours, the Scarlet Macaw Welsh are busy trying to protect their land from the Spix Macaw Saxons. The Welsh are slowly losing the battle, most likely due to the fact that the two sides wore similar clothing. This only caused the fight to be all the more confusing as the fight went on.
Luckily for the Welsh, they had a very important person on their side. It is a male Scarlet Macaw, who is a monk and a member of the church. His name is David, he has been watching the battle for quite some time and he has realised the confusion of who-is-fighting-who is becoming a grave problem. He knew that he needed to do something, fast.
The Welsh army continued to lose ground to the Saxons, which only concerned David all the more. Knowing that the Welsh are at risk of losing the battle entirely, David managed to come up with an idea about how to help the Welsh army separate friend from foe. With no time to waste, David managed to call out to them.
"Welshmen, you must mark yourselves!" shouted David as he got the army's attention. "So that you can better tell, who is Saxon and who is Welsh".
David followed this up, by plucking a leek from the ground. The leek is like a daffodil, except it can be found in wales during march time. This leek is about to play an very important part in the battle as well as be part of David's soon-to-be legendary status. So, basically, David, while holding the leek, spoke out to the army once again.
"Here, wear these, so you will know" said David as he held out the leek to the army. "That any soldier, who does not have a leek, is your enemy".
It was very clear, that some of the Welsh soldiers found this idea to be rather odd. Although they went along with the idea, knowing that the monk is one of God's men. Soon enough, every Welsh soldier is wearing a leek in their helmet. Luckily for them, this helped separate friend from foe. This is exactly, why David wanted them to wear the leek.
What happened next changed the Welsh's fortunes, it was clear that the leek has played it's own part in the battle. Which was followed by the Welsh battling the Saxons again, with the Welsh ending up being victorious. This was all because of David, who had managed to solve the grave problem of separating friend from foe. This clearly had an impact.
If David had never thought of the idea of getting the Welsh army to wear Leeks, the army would have lost to the Saxons and the outcome would most likely have been totally different. But, luckily, a Saxon victory was denied by David, who helped the Welsh defeat the Saxons, by just using leeks to separate the Welsh soldiers from the Saxons.
I like this story, because it shows that David has realised the problem of fighting in a battle. It was clear to him, that something needed to be done, to help the Welsh army to fight the Saxons as the Welsh couldn't tell who is friend or foe, due to both armies wearing similar clothing. So, all thanks goes to St David.
Also, to all the Welsh authors on this site, I hope that you enjoy a happy St David's day. :)
