Emerald eyes stared intently at the glowing red numbers on the digital clock, a gold buckled shoe tapped away on the hardwood floor. It was four fifty-nine pm and Sonic The Hedgehog just couldn't wait any longer, for him one minute felt like an eternity. The second the clock struck five the doorbell rang and he was at the door a second later. Sonic swung the door open to find a pure white envelope with a heart sticker on the welcome mat. He carefully picked up the little treasure and held it to his chest, bringing it upstares with him to his bedroom.
Tails watched his older brother skip past him, he smiled to himself and shook his head. For the past three months Sonic had been getting these love letters from a secret admirer. At first he thought they were coming from a fan but everytime it became apparent that it was someone he knew.
Upstairs, the blue hedgehog pulled a shoebox out from under his bed. He carefully removed the sticker and placed it in the box. Gently he removed the letter from the envelope, his name written on the back in smooth cursive. He held the paper to his chest, something about these letters just made him feel all giddy and warm. He unfolded the paper and started to read.
Dearest Sonic,
You have been getting my letters for quite some time now and I think now is the perfect time for use to actually meet in person. I long to hold you in my arms, to pet those beautiful blue quills, to kiss those soft plump lips. If you wish to see me come to the center of town by the fountain tomorrow night. I can't wait to see you.
Love,
Your secret admirer.
Sonic felt like his heart was going to burst right out of his chest. He was finally going to meet the person who wrote him all those letters. Ever since he got the first letter Sonic wanted to know who was writing them, the person's gender didn't matter, he just wanted to give them the biggest hug ever. Placing the letter in the shoebox alongside the other love notes he's kept, Sonic put the box underneath his bed. He stood up and hurried downstairs to tell his little brother the good news.
"Tails! Tails! Guess What!" Sonic yelled as he burst into the fox's workshop, causing the the kit to hit his head on their plane.
"Jeez Sonic, did your secret admirer send you a gift or something?" Tails said while rubbing his head.
"Nope! Even better!" Sonic giggled, "They want us to meet in person tomorrow!"
"That's great Sonic! I'm really happy for you."
"Thanks little bro." Sonic ruffled the fur on Tails' head.

An ebony hedgehog sat at the foot of his bed. Ruby eyes stared longingly at a picture of their blue counterpart. For the past three months, Shadow had been sending the Blue Blur letters of his affections, and always at the same time. At first Shadow found the blue hedgehog's optimistic and cocky nature to be nothing short of annoying, but as he spent more time with sonic it quickly grew to become one of the many things he adored about him.
Shadow loved everything about the blue hedgehog, from the tips of his little blue ears to the soles of his shoes. Those emerald eyes could just light up a room and his warm smile could make anyone's heart melt. Shadow couldn't wait to his face when they meet up at the fountain. Shadow had everything neatly prepared, a clean black suit, a bouquet of red roses, chocolates, cologne, and a dinner date. Absolutely nothing could go wrong.

Sonic browsed the store's collection s of suits and ties but nothing struck his fancy. He needed to look absolutely stunning for his date tomorrow. He dug through one of the racks and pulled out a pristine white suit that caught his eye, Sonic went into one of the dressing rooms and tried it on.
The suit wasn't as restrictive as Sonic thought, it actually felt comfortable. He looked at himself in the mirror, content with the way it fit his body. He walked to the counter to pay and as he was leaving the store a familiar voice pierced the air.
"Sonic!" Amy squealed, wrapping her arms around him in a death grip.
"Oh uh… hey Amy," He said as he attempted to remove her arms from his neck.
"What's the suit for?" She asked, "are you finally taking me on a date!"
Sonic felt a bead of sweat trickle down his forehead, "Well uh… remember all those letters i've been getting."
Amy raised her brow, "yes?"
"Well I'm going to meet them today."
"Oh… ok…" She let him go.
Sonic swiftly left the store and returned home. He carefully hung the white suit inside his closet and moved downstairs to prepare dinner.

Shadow ate alone in his kitchen that night. He lived alone in his apartment and the mostly black hedgehog had to admit that it got lonely, Sonic would make it feel more like home. The thought of his blue counterpart lifted his spirits. He had to accept his confession, he just had to. The way Sonic talked about his letters made Shadow confident that his feelings would be mutual. The thought that he wouldn't though… filled him with dread.
He had done terrible things in the past, things he regrets deeply. Sonic was forgiving but could he forgive Shadow? He hurt Sonic on multiple occasions and despite the fact that they were now friends he couldn't help but feel that their previous altercations will drive him away.
He tried to purge those pessimistic thoughts from his head and focused on eating his dinner. Shadow let his mind drift to more optimistic outcomes, his mind drifted off to a daydream of Sonic smiling in his arms, a soft smile graced Shadow's tan lips. Only time would tell if Sonic will accept his love.
