A.N- hey all! Griffin-queen here with another little ficlet… lol this one is just basically an exercise for me… "if immortality unveil" is close to having it's 5th chapter completed… but as I got closer and closerI got stuck so this is just a little fic t get my brain juices flowing a bit… lol maybe It'll actually go over well… tell me what you think when you're all finished reading.
"More lines on the right wing… now the antennae… yes…that looks rather nice." These thought ran through Victor's mind as he fondly scrawled a flawless image of a butterfly in his sketchbook. Dipping the wispy quill pen into the inkwell one more, he added a little more to the last spot on the butterfly's wing.
The drawing complete…he studied it a bit for a few seconds, before directing his attention to his live study…a beautiful butterfly inside a glass bell jar. It fluttered about inside the jar, no doubt looking for an escape route. "You're just like me aren't you my friend?" Mused Victor. "Looking for a way out…" He couldn't help breaking his trance as he heard his parents down on the front stoop singing about something or other… He shook his head, the sweatiness of his palms returned once again as he thought of his marriage that was to be taking place the next day. Savoring his last few minutes of tranquility… he closed the sketchbook… the smell of fresh dried ink reaching his nostrils as the book shut.
He placed it sideways on his desk, and gazed into the bell jar... Looking, for one split second, past the fluttering creature and out to the outside world… the glass of the jar made the world look like a twisted and demented place. Which for the most part, was how Victor saw it anyway. He then returned his age to the butterfly… it had become more agitated. "how silly of me… you poor thing… I'll get you out." He lifted the jar and the butterfly flew out. It flew around him in gratitude, and he spun around with it, gazing at it with love and wonder. Finally the butterfly found its way to the window…where it flew out into the town below…. "Goodbye my friend… go be free…. Live the life I wish I had." He waved to the butterfly as it descended from his window…. And ti was then that he became aware of his father calling to him. His heart started to pound, and it felt as if it was throbbing right within his throat. Shakily… he walked to his door, and looked back at the window one last time, before he walked out of his room. And all that was heard was the metronomic "Click, Click, Click, Click ." Of his shoes as he descended the cold marble staircase….
A/n- hahah that was fun… lol now I am off to the word of ice cream and chocolate syrup… join me soon for the next chapter of "if immortality unveil" but until then...this is griffin queen saying peace out!
