Disclaimer: I do not own Fullmetal Alchemist.

This is an alternate ending to the first 2003 anime. Al gave up the philosopher stone in exchange for his 15 year old body and right after that, the homunculus Envy appeared. He attacked Al and Ed arrives only to see his brother get stabbed through the heart.

'Alphonse!' I shouted. I watched in horror as Envy stabbed my own brother through the heart right as he placed his hands on the array. Envy started vomiting his philosopher stones as Al held his remains. But that didn't matter. All that mattered was Al, the little brother my whole life revolved around. Time slowed down. I could feel my heartbeat slow down and I could hear each one loud and clear, like the stomping of an elephants four feet. Blood rushed to my head and my world suddenly seemed to center around Al. I ran to him and collapsed in an undignified heap, tears welling up in my golden eyes. He reached out shakily with his left arm as I tentatively reached out my own. 'Brother…don't.' he said, barely above the whisper of the wind as he weakly grasped his hand in mine. 'Al. You are not going to die. I forbid it.' I said, sounding like the naïve eleven year old I once was, unsure and unconfident about the situation. I got ready to clap and paused, a bittersweet smile tugging at my lips. 'Al, you are the light of my world. I could never live with myself if I let you die. Promise that you'll live for me and take care of yourself. I love you, Al. Never forget that.'

Al tried to mutter a weak protest but I placed my hand over his. Without another word, I clapped and slammed my hands down, visualising the array I needed. I smiled, looking more at peace than the last few years. Finally I have paid for my sins. I locked my eyes with Al's and though he was rapidly losing blood, he understood. Just as I was about to fade away, running footsteps could heard. I smiled. At least Al was safe. That was my last thought as I flickered out of existence and went through the gate.

What Ed failed to realise, was that those running footsteps belonged to the one and only Roy Mustang. His eyes widened at the pure whiteness surrounding his subordinate and without hesitation, leaped in after him.

Third Person:

Truth took the two alchemist through another gate, this one with a slightly more vibrate energy source. He was planning to take the blond alchemist's life in exchange for his brother's life but seeing as there were two of them, he would just leave them in another world. Truth grinned. At least this would be much more entertaining, he thought as he watched the two alchemists walk through the other gate.

A certain Alphonse Elric woke up gasping for air and felt his body. He was no longer bleeding to death and the gaping wound in his heart had healed completely. He looked around widely. There was the transmutation circle he used on Envy and blood all over the floor. There were bits and pieces of a philosopher stone too, but that wasn't what he was looking for. Ed. His brother, the only family he had left was gone. He wanted desperately to break down crying or open the gate and exchange himself for his brother. But his brother's last words stopped him. Promise that you'll live for me and take care. He would. But only for his brother. A huge surge of emotion suddenly took control of his body and unable to control himself, he bawled his eyes out. He cried for killing a damn homunculus that was somewhat his half brother, he cried for how unfair his life was but most of all, he cried for his last family member.

Sorry for not continuing my other stories, but I just lost my inspiration. Perhaps one day I might continue my other stories, but not for a while. Here's a new one!
