ONLY ONE
He was the only one who ever talked to Kouryuu like he was a person. The other monks treated him like he was an aberration. They made snide comments and remarks when they thought he couldn't hear them. Some didn't even bother to try and be subtle. Even Shuei talked to him in a condescending manner; as if he was just someone to be pitied. His master was the only one who treated him kindly, like an equal.
And now his master was dying. Dying in front of him, his blood everywhere, his last words still ringing in Kouryuu's ears. And Kouryuu couldn't do anything except watch, immobilized by the binding spell his master had placed on him. He's forced to watch as the demons rip his master's body apart and pick up the bloody Seiten Sutra.
He sits there, numb, eyes wide with shock, blood dripping down his face and onto his clothes. He wants to cry but he can't find the strength to do so. Dimly, he notes that the demons are leaving. Voices are growing louder and there's the sound of feet pounding on the floor of the halls. The spell has worn off but all Kouryuu can do is sit there. And stare at what's left of his master.
Komyou Sanzo had been the only one who ever cared. And he had given up his life to protect Kouryuu. The little boy he considered his own. But he didn't realize that he had destroyed something inside of Kouryuu as well.
