September 4, 1929.
Banks were closed, people were on the street, people were trying to get jobs, too many people homeless and very poor. I couldn't believe my eyes. Every time I walked to my apartment I see skinny people in the dirty clothes. I was stressed out at the moment because of my job. My boss and I got into a fight today, so I got sent home. It was fall and I didn't have many warm clothes to wear. I was hungry and sad at the same time, but I ate anyway.
I sat outside on the foot steps near my apartment eating when a little girl that lived next door walked up to me.
"Hi! Why are you home so early?" She said.
"Oh hello my boss just...wanted me to give me the day off." I smiled at her.
I didn't want to tell her that I might lose my job pretty soon. She was always so cute and nice to me. I helped her parents by giving them some money for food and water.
"Um... ? C-can I have some of your sandwich?" Susie looked at me with her puppy dog eyes.
"Sure, you can have the rest."I handed her the sandwich and she ate it in one bite. I laughed.
"You were pretty hungry, weren't you?" I stood up and patted her head.
"My dad lost his job so we don't have enough money for food. I just had a peace of ham and that was it." She looked down and frowned.
I looked at her and frowned. I always knew how to cheer her up, but it wasn't the first time her dad lost his job, it'd been several times now. I picked her up and stared to tickle her until she laughed and struggled to get down from my arms. I didn't let her down and she laughed harder once I tickled her sides.
"S-stop p-p-please! HA!" I stopped and put her looked up at me and smiled.
"Will I better go Susie, if you need anything just remember to knock on my door, okay?"
She smiled and nodded.
As I walked up the stares I knew something wasn't right. I heard a man and a women arguing with each other and it sounded like the room near mine. I looked at the door and it was I saw Susie's parents.
