'Forsaken Friendship'

'Forsaken Friendship'

I liked the way I was,

And I thought that you did, too,

But now I see that in the end

I meant nothing to you.

I gave you all my loyalty,

I gave my heart and soul,

And always, without question,

I did as I was told.

But no matter how I fought,

To see the battle through,

In then end, despite my efforts,

I'm not good enough for you.

The thing that you have done,

Is something you can't change,

And I hope that now you realize,

That life is not a game.

Winning needs strength, yes,

But friendship still needs trust,

And the way that this is going,

It will never work with us.

I thought once that our friendship,

Had some meaning, somehow,

And though once I was foolish,

I have learned better now.

My devotion didn't cut it,

For someone with no heart,

And in your eyes I see that,

You never loved me from the start.

I did the best I could for you,

I fought until I fainted,

But how could I expect so much,

From one whose heart was tainted?

You've thrown away my trust, now,

And I hope that you can see,

That as long as you remain the same,

You'll never command me.
