If you won't love him, he will die

NOTE: Okay, I'm starting off a bit angst but bare with it, please! I needed an idea so I thought about the relationship between Kenshin and Kaoru; it couldn't have been all happy and easy. There had to be times where Kaoru would have thought about giving up, and times when there's that HUGE pot hole out of no where.

So again I apologize for not starting off "happily'' like I usually do, but this is a last minute idea, and I do hope it will turn out well! Also note that this is the first of my collection so please don't be TOO harsh with reviews and comments, thank you.

Chapter 1: Once a Battosai always a Battosai

It was dark out and the evening had long been over. Most people would be in bed, or should be in bed at this hour. It was around twelve or one o'clock in the morning and this is not the time to up and about.

As Kaoru looked out her bedroom window into the forests that surrounded her dojo she couldn't help but think of Kenshin. Kenshin was out there somewhere fighting off an enemy perhaps? Most likely. Kaoru sighed as she leaned on the wooden frame before gently and silently sliding open the screen door to step outside. A cold gush of air wrapped around her and made her shiver in the late autumn breeze. Summer was long gone and the cold weather was quickly approaching. Kaoru wrapped her arms around her kimono as she leaned against a wooden pole for support and looked out for any signs of Kenshin returning.

"Kenshin……" Kaoru breathed as she continued her gaze into the dark mysterious forests.

Meanwhile in the depths of an unknown forest, there Kenshin was, fighting off some enemy with his reverse-blade sword, un-drawn. Kenshin had changed; his eyes flared red and narrowed. After all once a Battosai, always a Battosai, no matter how hard to try, you will always remain a Battosai in your heart.

"Stop fooling around, Kenshin, fight me like the Battosai you are!" cried his enemy urging on his inner Battosai

"I am no longer the Battosai you see me as," Kenshin replied sternly as he tried to shake off the Battosai inside of him, who urged Kenshin onto letting him out.

"Don't say that, Kenshin. You are, and will always be a Battosai in your heart. So why not let him out for a fight? I know he'll enjoy it, I'm sure of it," Kenshin's enemy grinned evilly, as he knew he was close to getting the Battosai out of Kenshin, whom he wished so badly to fight.

"No….." Kenshin hollered as he rushed onward with his sword still un-drawn.

"That's it," Kenshin's opponent chilled, "You're almost there……."

The next few moments were a vivid blur as Kenshin rushed pass, his head shaking and his arms wailing; as he tried to control his inner Battosai.

"Kenshin….." His opponent called, as he watched Kenshin fight within himself for control.

"It's too late,"

"NO!..." Kenshin cried as he felt his inner take control as he fell to the ground, in defeat. Kenshin lurched forward as his eyes changed yet again, from a flaring red into an ominous dark reddish orange, with a hint of dark blue.

"………..Come back to me," Kaoru silently hushed the words; as she felt yet another cold breeze gently graze her. Kaoru shuddered ever so slightly as she grabbed her shawl and continued to wait.
