The created meets the creator

"Is everyone here?" A dark voice emanates from the chamber door of Tortall's castle. A figure wearing a hooded cloak of midnight blue, covered with silver dragons, and their face covered. The dark shadow of the hood swept the room. Alanna and Alianne of Pirate's Swoop stood with their husbands, George and Nawat, to one side of the room. Daine and Numair Salmalin sat on the other side, talking with their foreheads touching and their fingers intertwined. Keladry of Mindelan sat at an empty bench with Sergeant Domitan of Masbolle, catching up on missions they have been on since they have last seen each other.

"May we now know why we are here?" asked Alanna. "Who are we all gathered here to meet?"

"All in good time my dear lioness." The dark figure replied. "I shall summon her now." The figure disappeared into the corridor before returning a moment later with an elderly blindfolded woman. The figure removed the black cloth obscuring the woman's sight and stepped back. "May I introduce Mrs. Tamora Pierce."

Mrs. Pierce stood rail still as she took in the sight before her, before falling backwards. George and Dom caught her and helped her to a bench while Numair pulled out his vial of Wakeflower. He had just barely begun to wave it under her nose when Mrs. Pierce began to stir.

"Ugh." She coughed. "That smells just as bad as I imagined." She pulled herself up so she could look around again, a wide grin on her face. "I can't believe it! Alanna, George, Diane, Numair, Keladry, Dom, Aly and Nawat! To think I lived to see the day!"

"Excuse me," Said Numair, his face turned in a frown. "You seem to know each of us, but I don't believe that any of us have met you before."

"Mrs. Pierce here is the creator of your stories." The dark figure had retreated to another bench. Several people believed that he was chuckling. "Where she comes from, your adventures are books read by thousands of young girls everyday."

"Do you really expect us to believe this?" Said George. "That we are just characters in some child's story?"

"In her world, you are." Replied the figure. He waved his hand, and a large box appeared in front of him. He bent down and distributed several books among the group. "These are the Legend of Tortallbooks from her world. There are four each for Alanna, Daine, and Keladry. Two for Alianne."

"How come I only get two and everyone else gets four?"

"After I finished Kel's story," Mrs. Pierce was up and now walking around the room as she talked. "I learned that longer books are not unwelcome, so I told yours in two."

"I don't' know about the rest of you, But I find this really strange." Daine was flipping through the first book in her series. "The thought of so many people knowing what happened to me in the Divine Realms kind of scares me."

"I know what you mean." Replied Kel, flipping through one of her own books.

"Alanna, you're in this one." Said Numair, holding a Daine book. "That's kind of funny."

"Ha ha." Said Alanna, not looking up from one of Aly's books. "Aly, you never told me that Nawat is really a crow."

"I never saw the need mother." Said Aly, also not looking up from one of Alanna's books. "You never told me that your childhood nickname was 'Alan' either."

"Give me that." Alanna pulled the book out of her daughter's hands and sat on it.

"Hey Kel, look at this." Said Dom, pointing to a page in one of Kel's books. "You never mentioned that you liked Sir Meathead once." Kel blushed and buried her face in her book again.

I wonder just how long this will take to sink in. Thought the figure. It sure will be interesting to see how this all turns out.

This was a ramdom thought I had. Let me know if I should contine. It would take at least three chapters before the dark figure would be revealed, but I'm not going to write if noone reviews.
