Summary
Even the smallest interaction between the two of them caused a spark - just like two chemicals that react to each other. Shikamaru and Temari.. and the sweet, little nothings that make them worth a series of love shots!
Disclaimer
I do not own Naruto. If I did, I'll kill of Sakura and make Hinata the lead female character.
Sweet, Little Nothings 1: Her and Humming
The Chuunin exam is the time of the year when ambassadors from Sunagakure come Konohagakure to coordinate for the said event. Just like always, the ambassador from Sunagakure is none other than the older sister of the Kazekage herself, Temari. And just like always, the one given the mission to escort her is Shikamaru.
Shikamaru just thought it's going to be the same thing, all over again.
Oh, boy, he was just wrong!
Upon the blonde-haired kunoichi's arrival to Konohagakure and as he was escorting her toward the office of the Hokage, he barely heard the girl humming.
'Humming? That's rare.'
The song sounds oddly familiar too but he cannot pinpoint whatever song it was. It sounds like a joyous song so he figured out Temari might be in a good mood. Extremely good mood, at that.
They talked a little bit but everytime the silence between them lengthened, he would hear her hum the said song again. By the time, Temari and Shikamaru reached the Hokage's office, Temari had already hummed the song for the twelfth time.
Of course, he counted!
After greeting the Hokage, they went through the documents that they need to organize for the Chuunin exam. Again, Temari hummed the said song.
This time, for the entire afternoon, Shikamaru counted it for the 48th time. By then, Shikamaru fought back the urge to ask what song it was.
'Mendokusai.'
It was almost an hour before sun down when they finished with what they set out to do. Shikamaru, after some small talks along the way, walked Temari to the inn where she is supposed to stay at during the entire Chuunin exam.
'Twice.', he thought to himself and sighed, after walking away from the inn.
He visited Kurenai-sensei, just like he regularly would, to see if her son who is also a splitting image of his sensei is doing well. The child, now at the age of two, was stuck glued to the television.
And then, right there and then, Shikamaru figured out the song that Temari was just humming 62 times today.
From the television, the raspy voice of a pirate man resounded.
Ooooooohhhh, who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants!
