I apologize for not having any chapters of "Because Of Her" up in a while. I have it all planned out, it's just REALLY hard to write it down and have it look nice.
So, here's a story to keep you guys occupied.
"It worked!"
Those words were all it took for Elphaba to jump up from the trapdoor and practically pounce on the scarecrow, "Fiyero!" She paused a bit, looking at him with a warm smile, as he pulled her close. "I thought you'd never get here," the green girl murmured, her chocolate eyes slightly teary. She reached out to him, which he pulled back for just a moment, looking at the floor.
The girl retreated her hand, peering at him longingly as he finally looked back up, a small smile in spite of himself. "It's okay, you can touch… you did the best you could. You saved my life."
Elphaba brushed a hand across his burlap cheek, "You're still beautiful."
"You don't have to lie to me."
"It's not lying," she stated, repeating what he had told her in the forest, "it's seeing things in a different way."
They both stood up, as Elphaba just hugged him closely, before her smile slowly fell upon his words, "It's time to go." "We can never go back to Oz, can we?" she asked.
Fiyero sighed, "No."
"I just wish…"
"Yes?"
"… that Glinda could know we were alive…" Elphaba whispered, her voice shaky. The scarecrow knew that she was already aware of it, it just hurt her. "She can't know, not if we want to stay safe," those words hurt him too as he just muttered, "No one can know."
Fiyero gently took her hand in his, his blue eyes staring into hers. She seemed upset for a moment, looking away, as she just turned and stared at the sky, "Because I knew you… I have been changed for good." His expression softened—he knew it would be painful for her. It was painful for him too, but for him, all he needed was the green girl in his arms, and he would survive.
She leaned close to him, as they slowly walked towards the door of the castle. She held her broom, as Fiyero turned to her "May I?" he asked, holding up the hat she had worn every day since the dance at the Ozdust. It was only then that Elphaba gave off a genuine grin, her eyes tearful as she remembered the bubbly blonde that gifted her with that. She tilted her head forward, as he placed it on top of her ebony hair, and with their hands intertwined, they were off.
Even if the lives they had were over… their life together was just beginning.
Characters all belong to Gregory Maguire and Stephen Schwartz, the genius behind the musical. I'm not sure if I want to keep this a one shot, or make it a chapter story. (shrugs) Oh well, hope you guys enjoyed~ X3
