The Death of Zack Fair: The Real Story

The Death of Zack Fair: The Real Story

Zack hid Cloud behind some rocks as he went to fight the opposing shinra troops.

"So, did they send the entire army after me?" Zack asked sarcastically, taking the Buster Sword off of his back.

"No, just ninety-nine percent of it! But we all got in an incident with some bunnies on the way here, and…I'd rather not talk about it." One of the troops said.

Zack charged at him, and they shot him in the chest. He clutched it in pain.

"Oh god, the pain! I forgot they had guns!" Zack yelled. Cloud crawled out of hiding, and went to Zack.

"I'll do what anyone in my position would do and suck the bullet out through his mouth! Cloud announced as he bent down to Zack. He instantly bolted up and chucked Cloud twenty feet to the rocks before his face even got close to his.

"I'm okay!" Zack yelled, and started fighting the troops. He didn't get many more injuries, because he remembered that bullets do very small amounts of damage in battle. Eventually, only a few remained. They decided to cheap shot him and shoot him in the arms, and then about twenty times in the face. They then presumed them both for dead and left him there.

"Oh dear; it seems I'm dying. Cloud, would you mind using the curaga materia on me from the buster sword?" Zack asked while Cloud crawled over to him. Zack handed him the buster sword. Cloud misjudged the weight of it, and it fell straight through his chest.

"Son of a bitch, Cloud! Killing me with my own weapon? I trusted you!" Zack screamed as he died. Cloud was hit by a sudden wave of sadness.

"WHY?!" Cloud screamed at the heavens in anguish. What he meant to scream was "WHY AM I SUCH A KLUTZ?!" but he could only get the first word out. He then started dragging the buster sword by hand through the desert, stumbling greatly. Zack saw him as he flew towards the heavens and saw how pitiful and sad he looked. He took pity on him.

"Say hi to Aerith for me if you see her!" Zack yelled as he flew to heaven with Angeal. Cloud heard him, but didn't look at all, his mind set on his goal: Get to Midgar and find Aerith. Of course, the guilt eventually drove him into insanity, but that's another story.

This is how Zack Fair really died.
